my friends seemed to be trying to get me to go see that with them while i was visiting them... preview looked very meh to me

it tries way too hard to be funny.... which totally neuters the scenes that are supposed to be dramatic. the plot and "twists" werent even clever.

cooper - sucks as usual
bale - i like him but its just another non-memorable role. he still has yet to blow me away.

saw the machinist last week which everyone goes crazy over because of his weight loss. he was okay in it, and the movie was meh and super predictable.

he's always just ok. I want to like him but im still waiting.
most of his characters are just extreme with no real depth. (machinist, hustle, the fighter, american psycho)

the only thing that made the Dark Night trilogy memorable were dead guys performance and Nolans use of music.

Also Selina was hawt

btw, true detective writer and creator:

“If we got to do it again, the setting would be a major character, along with our leads with the show set in a place you wouldn’t normally set a television show. I tried to make the format as broad for my tastes as possible in the sense that this is almost the True Detective version of a buddy‑cop movie hunting for a serial killer. And there could be a season that’s much more of a widespread conspiracy thriller, a season that’s a small‑town murder mystery, a season where nobody is murdered and it’s a master criminal versus a rogue detective or something. Even the title, True Detective, is meant to be, of course, purposefully somewhat generic – the word “true” can also mean honorable and authentic and things like that.”

and ep 3 spoiler here, but then there was that other thing with the drawings which might be related to the toys

also i think in the first ep i heard what the kids were talking about in the background of the scene and i was a bit like, wtf? dont remember specifics.
