xbone is a blu-ray player, right? ive never watched one

something else that has kept me from buying a blu-ray player.

They all seem to be like 70-100 bucks on google, and I figure at some point one of the consoles is going to do something to make me feel it would be a worthwhile investment so I should wait for my blu-ray player until then.

I'll buy once I get a blu ray player

I've held off on buying once because i'm too lazy to do the research into what I want.

Can I get one that has like Netflix/wifi on it for video streaming and stuff?

Yes

The one I got is very nice picture-quality wise, has wi-fi and apps (icl. netflix).
You can even plug a PS4 controller into it and download games onto it from the PSN and play them on there.

It's affordable too

I definitely recommend at least a mid-range Sony such as this one since Sony's upscaling technology is pretty advanced. It will upscale your dvds nicely in 720p and 1080p

No there is none

Only thing to look for is that some Blu Ray player might not be as good upscaling poopty quality DVDs (480i resolution) than some elite DVD players are.

So in short : if your DVD player was meh, you don't loose anything playing your dvds on your Sony blu ray player.

If you had an elite DVD player with a great deinterlacing chip: keep that for your dvds
(but it really has to be some fancy dvd player to best a mid-range sony blu-ray player for dvds)
