ziggy i watched your boy Mulaney's new special while in an ambien stupor last night. I was a little meh at first but enjoyed it more as it went along and liked him by the end.


currently watching Jeselnik's on netflix. Never heard of him, but jesus that Clapton joke was a little much even for me. But i legit died when he addressed the couple in the crowd with the woman cackling

love jeselnik, i think he's a really good writer. and you either love or hate his shtick. i liked his other televised special better though

and i watched half of mulaney's new special, was disappointed, rewatched it all a couple days later and liked it a lot

Only time I ever saw his standup was live and maybe it was because he was sharing the stage with some greats he paled in comparison but to me he was just trying to say shocking things instead of funny things

like i said, you either hate or love his shtick and i could see him standing out like a sore thumb if he's sandwiched between other acts that you love

i could probably write a stupidly long paragraph about him and his joke writing, but basically, i think he sacrifices some laughs to write the types of jokes that fit his on stage persona.
he was one of the first writers for fallon's show, and i'm not a big fallon fan but the fact that he was able to write so much material for a nightly show in a voice that's the opposite of his own shows that the dude can write jokes. he found his niche, there aren't a lot of comics who can pull off what he does.

He is a good writer. He actually said he had to quit the Fallon Show because his jokes were too dark. They couldn't really use many of them.
