Both are good movies. One thing I noticed about Tom Cruise. When someone asks him a question in a movie he more times than not repeats that question back before answering. It was weird/annoying.

about a minute in. are you reading from a script? or did you sort of prewrite this?

not saying it seems like you're reading, but you really are able to phrase things how you write (and vice versa), and in a natural, yet detailed way without stumbling or seemingly reaching for thoughts. that's not easy.

i'm torn though. one of the main reasons i loved your writing style (though not its only strong point) was that i was able to read it in your voice, tone and character because i know you.

while the youtube avenue does allow people to get a glimpse of that, i worry that it wont be enough to sustain full reviews. 7 mins is just way too long... even if you cut it down you're going to need to splice in clips or stills to jazz it up. maybe you already planned on this down the line though.

For me personally though i prefer your written reviews. they were unique... a perfect mix of bro and intellectual ... but never crossing too far into either realm where it's offputting or pretentious. I thought they were well crafted and unapologetic. I miss them honestly.

Sound advice, crims. I totally agree in regards to the written reviews, Needs to find a way to bring that out. Content is strong AF. princess #1 walked by as i was watching and within a couple of words knew exactly what movie was being reviewed.

My mini review to follow up on my 2.5 foxes out of 5 rating (spoiler warning I guess?):

For a movie that is being described as "weird" I think the weirdest part about it is how much it kind of played out like a G rated film while also dealing with some adult themes (sexuality, racism, homophobia, stuff like that). A lot of the characters are generic cartoonish stereotypes, and the suspension of disbelief required to follow the story is real so it's tricky trying to figure out what exactly he was going for with some of the scenes. That's where it loses points for me.

At the same time it does have a Blue Velvet quality to it, where we're shown a sort of idyllic 60's world yet under the surface there's some pretty nasty poop going on. It's hard to fully explain it but the movie does have character and I think the story is open to interpretation which I think would reward multiple viewings.
