Pens would be nowhere if not for Malkin this season. I give my vote to Malkin for MVP. Thoughts? Questions? Concerns? You're choice if other?

To me there is no question he's the front runner right now. Leads the league in scoring and he most certainly played a big part in Neal's new contract. You're right, the Pens would be nowhere near where they are now without him.

it would be hard to argue someones had as much of an impact as him. I could see someone argue spezza or karlsson (most likley sens fans) because they were not expected to do much if anything.... but id still vote malkin

It's pretty clearly a two horse race right now, IMO. Malkin and Lundqvist. You can't ignore Lundqvist. He's got a .940 sv%. And 7 shutouts. And a 1.8 GAA. That's retarded.

I'd also say Stamkos and Giroux really aren't that far back of Malkin, in terms of forwards either. Stamkos for the havoc he's wreaking on the goal scoring race, and Giroux because, despite being just a few points back, he's also one of the Flyers top defensive forwards.

I agree that Stamkos is proving to be quite a stud. If Tampa were doing better in the standings, he would be a neck and neck candidate for MVP. Giroux is a bit more of a dangler, still fairly lethal though. He does not have the size and strength of Malkin to the net though.

MVP isn't determined by size or strength though, its value to the team. Don't get me wrong, I'm not arguing Malkin for MVP. Just pointing out that the fact Giroux is a dangler doesn't mean anything, if he were more important to his team than Malkin is, then he should win.

I was saying Malkin is a more versitile player offensively. And yes he is very valuable to the team who has limited secondary scoring.

Don't get me wrong, I totally agree with you. Malkin for MVP. Just trying to clarify what you said, that's all.

He's got it right now. If Lundqvist had 10 more games played with the same stats he could push him for it, but otherwise I don't see it. Two horse race between Malkin and Giroux imo.

Malkin, Stamkos, Giroux, Lundqvist. I think all of them have a legit shot at winning it depending on what they do the rest of the way.

I agree with this but with Tampa struggling and losing just how valuable is Stamkos?

How is he doing with that? Not bad, I'd say.

It'd take a miracle for someone else to win MVP over Malkin now. He 100% deserves it.

Karlsson has an amazing year, especially at his young age and only his 2nd season in NHL...
But Malkin will win it... He's too dominating, plus they always prefer a forward for that trophy...

Pronger got it in 2000,
then i think the last Defense that won it was Gordie Howe in the 60'S ???
(correct me if i forget one...).

PS: Lunqvist is still in the run i think... with 1.87 GAA and 934 Sv% 34 Wins, hard
not to consider him also. Stamkos won't get it if they don't make the playoffs...
(and even if they did, i still think Malkin deserve it more that him...)
