i never took the flyers rumor seriously so i literally gave vinny zero thought right up until it happened. i'll never know what side i would have been on. like would i have wanted him or not.

It was an obvious destination IMO. I'd be very surprised if Montreal was even Vinny's second choice based on the type of roll he would have to assume, even if it wasn't the intention going in, the media there would have never let the man assume his desired spot as a secondary scorer on the team.

Then take into account the extremist side of the Habs fanbase where half(QP) would think he is god because he is from Quebec and can do no wrong and the other half who would be all over him the minute he doesn't score a goal for 4 or 5 games.

Can't see why at this stage of his career he would put himself through that, and apparently neither did he.

I mean 5 years ago, if this opportunity was here it would have worked. Now on one hand you have the option of playing with Giroux, being a secondary guy not under pressure of being the face of the team and getting the term you desired to finish your career against being put up to expectations that simply can't be attained at this point by the crazy local media/ more extreme fans.

I get it. I don't care where he's from. It doesn't matter to me that he's French. He's just a really good hockey player that would have helped our team.

Now the Habs are pursuing Briere. Still a good player, and can play wing which is what we truly need.

he's a good player. your team has improved because of him, for sure.

but he's known for being a bit lazy. don't expect a backchecker.
you'll like him though. the good outweighs the bad.

sucks the habs didn't get him but i'm glad bergevin stuck to his guns. offering 3 years was the smartest decision and he stuck to it. he has a long term plan.

i honestly was thinking they were adding a defenseman and a goalie this summer and that was all.

no doubt. that's a problem with many fan bases though. just so happens that mtl has many fans, and many loud mouths. also it's not a language thing because you get the dumb ass english callers on tsn690 all the time.
