In fairness, Crawford probably isn't good enough in comparison to the rest of the countries. I'm not convinced he's a much better goaltender than a guy like Dubnyk or Ward but he's gonna be riding high the same way Fleury found his way onto 2010.

k guys i know ur just being Richards for the sake of it but here goes:

habs d has been a problem pretty much since markov's knee started exploding and oddly enough, with gill leaving. subban just recently emerged as a #1 guy but then there's a gap from #1 to #4. there's no real # 2 and 3 d-man on the habs. emelin, gorges and markov are all 4/5's and diaz, drewiske, kaberle and bouillon were all 6's and 7's.

last year was a much more offensively minded team and there were a crapload more oddman rushes and high quality scoring chances for the opposition. 2 years ago the habs finished 2nd to last despite being in the top 10 in GA, they couldn't score because cunneyworth implemented the same stupid system as jacques martin.

anyway price is not an elite goalie, he's very good. i think he can be elite as he's coming into the prime of his career in the next few years. last year his stats were damn good save for 3 games. that's all it took to make his save percentage go from 919 to 905.

and also the habs have about a half dozen legit NHL D prospects coming up in the next 2-3 years, last year the AHL's D were all rookies and this year there's 2-3 more rookie d's going to play in hamilton.

Goaltending is a serious issue for Canada in all honesty. I'm hoping someone gets hot this year but the States, Finland and Sweden are all ahead of Canada in the G department right now.

Probably true. He is not as good as what Habs fans think and much better then what his detractors give him credit for. The next two years are crucial for him if he ever wants to be considered a top 5 in the NHL IMO.

Finland is pretty nuts and same with America.

Sweden is a one man show and I'm curious if Lundqvist really is as good as people give him credit for considering he's played behind super defensive systems. But then again, the Swedes national program is the trappest of trap hockey so it works.

crawford, reimer, price, luongo, ward, fleury, maybe holtby.


you hope price, luongo and ward have huge seasons, if one of them is doing terribly you replace him with whoever is doing better between reimer, holtby and crawford but it wont matter because i doubt any of those 3 guys sees the ice or even the bench if they make the team.

Lundqvist isn't the best goalie out there, but as of right now would be Canada's #1.
