if you have a pc, steambox is a waste of money. steam big picture allows you to connect your pc to your tv very easily. if i remember correctly, big picture was basically a test platform for steambox to see if pc gamers/steam community would dig the idea of gaming on large tvs. it was a success so they made the steambox, which for all intensive purposes, is an entry level gaming rig.

instead of spending the money for steambox, put that cash towards an enthusiast pc gaming rig that will get you into the next next generation of consoles.

the fact that both ps4 and xb1 are trying hard to get indie exclusives are showing this trend.

Gaming in the next gen demographic: "OH, let me buy a console for $600 so I can play a game that plays like nintendo games on my TV. I am so retro and cool!!"

I still think there will be alllllot of hardcore gamers and AAA gamers on consoles... PC is coming back. What I find attractive about the steambox is the fact that it's kinda like a console ( you buy it and plug it.. already packaged ) but it offers the flexibility of Steam.

i have broken at least 3 ps3 controllers by just twisting them apart. not once has an 360 controller fallen to my rage.

not to mention the DEALS of steam. some great savings you won't find elsewhere.

but you'll need AAA devs to make games for linux. if there's a market, they'll do it. eventually. won't be anytime soon.

disagree completely. only since 360 would i say the games on pc and console been comparable.

pc gaming was always better than consoles from atari through playstation and xbox

only have uplay b/c my free copy of splinter cell and AC:BF that came with my new gpu was through ubi, wished so badly it was through steam.
