Bouma is useless to me. Rather see Hino or Kampf then Bouma on that 4th line. |

I'm not sure how Bouma became the new whipping boy, but he has played just fine in his role. Also not sure how replacing him with Hinostroza, a skill player, would help the 4th line.
Kampf would be an okay replacement, but even then, Bouma doesn't need replacing and has hardly been a problem. That 4th line of Wingels-Hayden-Bouma has done their job consistently. |

Well, some improvement last night anyway, one time a Nashville player got between him and the boards as bouma went crashing into them 😉 |

Agreed on Bouma. He's invisible. Doesn't do anything of note, albeit he doesn't make many mistakes either which I guess is easy when you never have or are near the puck. |

as will happen regularly during 82 games: a game they probably should have lost and they get 2; they will also go the other way a few times...
preds missed some wide open nets; and craw stiffed arvidson on a shorty break away..
for 3/4 of that game it was last spring redux: rinne sharp, plug up the half the ice, contest everything, sticks everywhere
craw 6 goals allowed in 5 games = once again he is doing his part
3 days rest is going to help them quite a bit...
on the winner forsberg fell asleep...its one and one at that point and you can not let your guy slip behind you like that
listening to Q you think they had lost...he know they escaped; sharps goal should have been disallowed; hartmann obvious grabbing the stick not called; the refs giveth and sometimes tacketh

I'd say Craw is doing more than his part.
Franson is decent on the third pairing, nothing can go wrong as long as he stays south of 16 minutes. A second pair dman is still missing though, someone need to step it up. |

As the season goes on its frustrating to see the forwards get further and further from the front of the net.
You really think when Schmaltz comes back this team is going to be the offensive juggernaut it was in the first 2 games?
It was nice to see Keith taken off the top PP line last night, we actually got a couple quality chances. |

Possibly my vision up here in Alberta is blurred, because I know I screamed at Kane on several occasions last night as he refused to get engaged in the defensive zone. I know that's not his role, but its obvious how frustrated he is playing with guys who don't have the offensive skill he is used to having on his line. I think Hayden is definitely a keeper though! |

Crow has no choice, we turtle in our own zone and the defenseman anticipate the outlet pass while the other defenseman plays safety, over and over and over again. |

Maybe its just that he makes so many things happen with the puck on his blade. Fair point. |

We do have trouble getting out of our end, and Rutta, as much praise as is heaped on him, is one of the guilty parties.

Saad keeps going there and good things happen when he does.

I thought Sharp played well... He engages
I'd like to see more Hayden.
I think it's time to see a transition to less Keith on the PP. |

Yes he does glad he's back, but so many dont unless it's desperation mode. 1st two games they were attacking the goalie and now.... |

No argument there!! How many other players make that pass for the overtime winner? |

I'm with VABeachBear, try Hayden on the 2nd line with Kane and Hartman centering and see what happens. Hoping Schmaltz is back next game Wed |

Faceoffs were good last night...Toews, AA, Kero and Hartman all 50% or better. So there is that.
Sadly, right now Hawks look like just any other ordinary team. Murphy now a regular in the press box. Tommy Wingels and John Hayden continue to impress. PowerPlay continues to be a question, only 4 shots generated on 6 PP chances. As this blog reads "Work In Progress". Truth! Preds playing without 2 of their Top 4 D and still carried most of the play.
Hawks are banking points now...but Q has a lot to figure out. |

He's actually fine in the role he has and the minutes he plays.
Hawks could use another defenseman, preferably one who can run a power play. And another speed, skill forward.
They also need to, as a team, be a lot less sloppy/overly cute with the puck and stronger breaking out. |
