Wilson may earn this money in the next couple seasons but this contract will NOT age well. I predict the Caps end up buying out the last three years at least. Players like him just don't have longevity. Not with the way they play. |

I think Sean hit the nail on the head. Far too much term, and with where the Caps currently are as a team, it doesn't really make much sense. They are maybe good enough to be a playoff participant, but not good enough to make much noise.
This has shades of Chicago circa 2018 or 19. |

This will not age like fine wine. He'll earn the contract for a couple of years, but it'll be a buyout by year 4. Kind of peculiar knowing they're in a retooling stage. If it wasn't for Ovi's quest for the Gretzky goal scoring record, this team would have been a candidate for a rebuild. Unfortunately, they're looking at a 10 year period of bleakness. |

This is one of the worst contracts ever !! If this was 5 years ago maybe you can make a case ! But now with the team where it is gross all around |

Yeah, kind of a weird move because they looked like they were adding some decent younger pieces for a rebuild on the fly. Wilson seemed like a prime candidate for some other team to over pay for with a solid young player and picks since he is a rare player in the NHL. |

They will regret this deal in 2 to 3 yrs. Guy has already dropped off quite a bit. Injuries and wear and tear are going to be a big deal. |

Agreed. This is a terrible deal. |

Kinda seems like a GM who got played by an agent who knows a lot of teams would love to have him for the next couple of years... and somehow convinced Washington to sign him for an insane 7. |
