I'd be happy with that if there's a deal in place to trade/package Reinbacher for a forward.
Harris/Wifi/Struble won't get you the top end forward this team needs.
So it comes down to who has the highest ceiling, and the highest probability of reaching that ceiling, Reinbacher or Parekh. |

BPA always
if its not a forward, its not a forward |

in that scenario...bpa would be SamRichardinson the LD who is going to be a monster on D....or you take a gamble on Sennecke if you think your player development leadership can do it...omg the auto correct on this site is out of control....btw..won't let me spell the defensmans name correctly... |

"BPA" doesn't mean a whole lot where you're drafting 5th and there's barely any consensus after the first 2 picks

That is the job of your scouting department to determine.
There is always a BPA, the margins might be small, but they are ranked internally regardless.*

what I mean is it'll be the BPA according to the habs organization, and not necessarily for every other team, which kinda defeats the purpose of the concept imo. |

I just do not see the Habs passing on a forward prospect at the draft, given the weakness in top 6 depth.
But who knows, expect the unexpected with HuGo. - Mashadar
Just speculating. The Memorial Cup likely pushed Parekh up a bit in this draft. Will speculate a F next blog. |

But shouldn't that be the way?
BPA is based on what your list say, which may be reflective of the "generic" list of players or significantly different, but there are always a few surprises. Drafting Slaf and Reinbacher were not considered the "consensus" BPA in general, but they were for the Habs.
Pick the BPA, not for need at this point, they can (eventually) move assets to fill in other spots down the road.
I want them to pick a forward, general consensus is the Habs will pick a forward, Hughes said he expects to pick a forward... but if both Demidov and Lidstrom are taken, then there is a really good D sitting right at their pick.
Will be interesting.
Less than 3 weeks to find out.

If they do pick a D, I do not think it will be Parekh.
But if both Demidov and Lidstrom are taken, will be interesting to see what the Habs do given a stud D is sitting out there.
Still think they go 99.99999% with a forward.

ça veut pas dire qu'il y a pas de meilleurs joueurs qu pourraient être disponibles au 5e rang
KK a été repêché parce que tout le monde voulait un centre, c'était un move cave |

I still find it doesn't really mean anything, especially if you're comparing a forward with a defensemen. I get that you might see one as having a bit more upside than the other, but you're looking at such different aspects of the game for both positions that determining who is the "best player" between both is getting pretty random.

Shea Weber or Lars Eller? Not sure about your argument defenseman vs forward, again this is their job to do this. Maybe you cant do it but you dont have to, they do

dans le fond repêcher le "meilleur joueur disponible", ça signifie de pas faire un move cave de même simplement pour combler un besoin, ce qui est quand même une évidence en soi.

we're talking about comparing 2 players among the top five, of course if you're looking at those guys in the example you're giving it becomes obvious.
edit: it's also proof that hindsight is 20/20, since Eller and Weber were drafted respectively 13th and 49th overall. |
