Hockey is back baby! Baseball is remorsefully over. Really excited to see Bedard take another step and establish himself as a top 10 center. |

I'm ready for the hockey season to be over, crown the Leafs the SC champions and get to the draft. |

I'm sorry what, probably never happen but Krill in Chicago.... - BetweenTheDots
I always wonder what it would take to trade for a player like that. We may get a top 5 pick next year, but don't have the prospect capital to swing that kind of a deal I would imagine.

He's only got 2 years left, would that be our Tavares signing? |

You never know. Did you ever think Bobby Hull would leave Chicago. Ever think we would trade Savard or Roenick. Or Belfour? Who would have ever believed we would win three Stanley Cups in six years and come within an eyelash of a fourth? The reason we breath is to see what comes next. |

Because they said in 2026, I'm assuming it wouldn't be a trade, it would be a FA
But i don't know his contract. |

Too young to remember Hull but remember hearing about JR at the dentist. I don't think I'd ever been as disappointed about a trade. We'd just had a tough, close series against the Avs. Was the start of the decline I think. |

Some interesting tidbits from the last day or so.
Taylor Hall said his recovery was good because it wasn't rushed, admitted he could have been playing down the stretch last season. Sounds like he is feeling good and ready to get some real game bumps, but doesn't feel worried about his leg.
LR talked about AJ Spellacy, talked about how he likes that he is big strong,a good skater, and how quick he is to pick things up. Highlighted how impressed he was learning without as much hockey experience at a high level.
Sounds like Mrazek will start tonight but not play the whole game.
LR talked about why he put the pairs together how he did, basically that he feels like Martinez will be a steady stay at home presence for when Jones gets the green light to join the attack, and he likes having a veteran in that role.
He talked about Brodie playing on the right hand side for second pair, and basically just being more comfortable with a vet playing their offside than putting a young D in that spot. He mentioned they know Jones/Vlasic can play together, so they can throw them out there as needed.
LR also talked about the TT - Bedard connection on the top line right now, looking to get them to play some give and go style. Wants Bedard to have someone he can dish the puck to with trust that he will find him again with a pass back.
I got the impression in both cases, trying to have guys like Jones/Bedard feel like they don't have to try to do as much on their own. |

Thanks, BB........ Don't think I've seen this here at HB but, maybe a couple weeks back, think it was Bamford, wrote that Commesso trained in the offseason with Swayman and had done so the yr before in Boston.
Loved reading that cuz both play similar efficient backed by athleticism styles. I'm a guy who thinks Commesso has a legit shot at being a solid NHL #1.
Very pleased to read the national media talk about what any objective Hawk fan has known since Bedard became a Hawk, his horrid defense. Words like atrocious and horrendous are being used and IMO are correct.
Even a guy like me who started screaming about it 20 games in I can make 25 legit reasons, some would say excuses, why. They don't matter really but I'll say this.
First game back from a broken face kid showed me two big tells. Firstly in the 1st period kid took a puck from near the sidewall in the Ozone at pace and slashed hard to the middle. Thought this kid has balls.
2nd, and more important to me, kid coming thru the neutral zone and was faced with 3-4 guys lined up across his side of the ice at the blueline, like he had faced all season, and he dumped. ...Up until his injury not sure I saw that more than a couple times. He'd usually skate into the teeth, get stripped, and they're off the other way on an odd man.
Tells me, immediately, kid looked at a lotta tape while out injured and had adjusted. Following jrs you see this over and over, yr after yr of kids getting experience along with the coaching and improve, even week to week you'll see this.
The shine has worn off a bit in no small part to being ridiculously over reported on but Bedard is a world class talent that had a whole offseason to digest an NHL season he played as an 18 yr old. .... Kid showed me a lot coming back from injury a better player between the ears and now we're about to see what Bedard has improved upon with the benefit of a whole offseason. |

Wings up 1-0.
Jones looks in top form digging the puck out of the net.
