From last blog...

Yeah, late for us on EST. AA has speed to burn, but I can’t count the times he loses the puck at the blue line as he enters the offensive zone, very frustrating. Might as well sit both AA and Smith, that fourth line was brutal.

Just took a look at some stats at hockeyreference, was the D1ck1inson,Mikheyev,Anderson line really that dominant last night??

Talkin’ Hawkey
@TalkinHawkey
#Blackhawks 3rd line of Mikheyev-Richardinson-Anderson were true to their shutdown role tonight at 5v5:

Shot attempts: 12-1
Shots on goal: 2-1
Scoring chances: 3-0
xGF%: 93.68
TOI: 8:37

And Anderson Mikhalev were dominant on the penalty kill, too bad Anderson couldn't bury a breakaway

I don't disagree on Reichel but to me AA with his speed, and what Maroon brings from a below the goal line game and physicality/deterrent stand point stay in. Pick 1 between Smith and Anderson to sit and see what Reichel can do. Pair him up AA and Richardinson and give him 10-15 games straight and if his game isn't consistent send him down and possibly ship him out. At this point I don't see him as a LT solution in the top 6 and yes....I know less than 100 games. I get it, but kid plays a very timid soft game far too often and doesn't have the skill at this level to get away with it....

outside of game 1, they have played very well. Love the leadership and bluntness that Foligno brings not being appeased at moral victories. It's time to win and getting away from the word salads of Jones and Murphy is huge. I don't expect a playoff berth, but I think pushing for 80 pts+ is a fair reality assuming most of the key cogs stay healthy all year round.

Bertuzzi has been extremely unimpressive so far. Skates like the beer leaguer who showed up 2 minutes before warmups, had dinner, and just floats around. Rarely notice him out and when I do, he's just gliding around. Hurt? recovering? Need to get him going because if anything he's hampering 71/23 ability to score.

Lastly...how about this coaching staff relegating Murphy to 3rd pairing minutes? Can't say how ECSTATIC I am for this and yes while he's looked somewhat competent limiting his exposure to being outmatched vs skilled guys in a top 4 role is a blessing. Not sure Brodie and Martinez can last the entire season, but they at least seem to be sound from being in the right spot most of the times.

They created some chances and flipped the ice enough. PK unit was sharp......they got pinned 1 time and it cost them but outside of that special teams so far through 4 games is so much better than in years past.

Wow!
That is crazy, a shame they couldn't bury anything.

I wonder if LD will deploy them differently on the road.

I think the 1st 20-25 games of the season are going to be LD's real audition. If the Blackhawks go to hell I could see them letting him go at the end of the season.
Wonder what the homestand will bring - .500 hockey?

For those still trying to figure out the antenna and with a Samsung TV, we finally got the antenna connected yesterday, thanks to this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-7UX6ud-NKI We paid 20 bucks for our antenna. So great to finally be able to watch. Definitely a more watchable team so far.

Does you TV have 2 coaxial inputs for cable and antenna or do you have to unplug the cable and connect the antenna?

Last night was the first time we could not get the game on Center Ice.

I got the antenna installed but could not get it to find 62.2. I probably should scan again.

Just one that is denoted by "ANT-IN" which previously had the cable that was for Dish in another lifetime.

Agree with Murphy being down on 3rd pair, that first goal last night was his fault, but brother was that a hit he layed on Honzek last night wow!
Bet Honzek doesn't try and charge and hit anyone the rest of the year

Beauty of a hit. Saw him coming and put his shoulder into him. Clean, great hockey play. 19 yr old vs old man strength isn't a game that Flame wants to play LT.

I know its early, but the 3 teams the Hawks played opening on the road have a combines record of 11-4.

the next 4 games at home are with teams that are 1-8-4. The Hawks have been a brutal home team the past few seasons, interesting to see if they can go 3-1 in the next 4.

If they can stay healthy and IF Mrazek is consistent they will surprise a lot of people. They can actually play most of their roster in the correct spots. PP2 is a tough watch, but the other 3 special team units are solid, and top 6 and top 4 look to be holding their own.

Hell of a lot better than watching Taylor Raddysh and some other turds from the past few years....

I know he's a bit of a lightning rod around here, but can we all agree that Seth Jones has started out this year being what is expected/needed from him? Good defensively and driving offense from the back end? No one else is really able to do so aside from Kaiser a little bit and Vlasic is starting to pepper the net a bit more now.

Good to see you posting, Rain.

I know I'm more excited to see Hawk games this yr. Watching them this yr shows you just how bad they've been. Nice to be in every game going into the 3rd. ....... But, IIRC the Hawks are the 2nd oldest team in the league but a culture and expectations are being set for the flood of young well regarded prospects that will flood the NHL roster.. In 3-4 yrs or so they'll be one of the yougest rosters in the league.

Every single goal scored is the result of a mistake. I’m not a Murphy fan but like all the Blackhawk defenders he’s been playing extremely well the last three games.

The Blackhawk teams beginning next season shall feature speed, particularly evident the more the prospects break into the lineup. The Icehogs right now feature a lot of speed and they reportedly (from a blogger here) ran Grand Rapids out of the building with all that speed in their opening game

Rockford plays next on Friday if you care to listen or watch insofar as to see that speed with your own eyes. Nazar and Savoie are likely future NHL players although others - like Rolston - is difficult to gauge whether they make it to the next level

I personally like Ludzindki and Misiak but the headliners obviously will be O Moore, Greene, and Lardis. Slaggert is surely NHL bound too.

It sure looks like three fourths of the forwards minimum will be plus skaters on future squads. And there are others who are wild cards since we do not know how they progress - examples include Reichel, the Russian kid, perhaps the 2025 # 1 selection

Jones is a guy who has never reached his ceiling. Besides his cap hit it's frustrating to see a player with his size,/skating have average offense with so many plays end on his stick.

In his defense the team has sucked out loud since he got here and this is the first yr we see him with some legit NHLers. ... As some have said in 3-4 yrs when it's all out win time he'll be helpful in the 2nd pairing. It'll probably play out that way.

That was me who posted that the Hogs skated GR outa the building with the caveat I only saw one period. ..It was the first time I've seen KD's draft picks play an AHL game and it did not take a scout's eye to see the speed.

KD has drafted speed and now we get to see it playing pro. The NHL roster each yr for 3-4 yrs will increase in guys who play and or skate fast as they graduate from the AHL. ..... That's the brand KD wants to play and I was glad to see them play that game at RKF..
