The 500 give and go duo. Love these guys and so happy they, us the fans, and everyone got to have this moment.
Love Malkin’s stupid penguin hat. |

I'm thinking of the best Penguins Crosby-Malkin set-up and goal. I dont think there's a better one than in the 2009 Stanley Cup final versus the Red Wings at Mellon Arena.
Im happy last night that the goal happened at home and it was a meaningful goal towards winning the game.
Beyond that - the defense sucks and Jarry sucks. As much as I support Dubas, his Graves and Jarry contract are huge marks against him. That extra $10M+ would go a long way. |

RW was right about milestones and Sid/Geno getting points vs Sabres....I was wrong to call it a jinx. |

In his last 17 appearances, Tristan Jarry’s save percentage is .867. The Penguins are 6-9-2 in those games. (Pens scored 34 goals - 5.7 per game - in the 6 wins) He has been pulled four times in that stretch.
The Penguins have their share of issues. This guy is No. 1 on the list" |

I would trade Jarry for Kane, no hesitation. There's a chance Kane doesnt even play this season. If that were the case you can just LTIR his cap 5.1 mill cap hit. Chance he could be good to play really late in season or playoffs as well. If that were the case, and the Pens are a playoff team, they could pull a Stone or Kuch maneuver. He could come back earlier in 2025 and if that were the case then you're adding very physical forward with snarl and finishing touch to the lineup somewhere.
Can you trade for an injured player?
If Kane were to come off LTIR today the Oilers would be like 4 mill over the cap. So, they would have to shed around 4.5 mill today to take on Jarry even if it was Kane going the other way.
This trade probably never happens. - MattStrat
People trade for guys that are retired but on LTIR so I'd imagine you can. Actually wasn't Jake on LTIR when we traded him last year?
I think Jarry is almost impossible to trade now with 3 extra years until he shows a little better, but that sounds about as realistic a chance as any. |

100%. It will be fascinating to see how Sully handles this with Ned coming back soon. I'd have to go back to Blomqvist myself.
EDIT- and just saw Ned was activated but sent to WBS on a conditioning stint. Could take a while for a goalie to get 3 games with how the AHL stacks them, so that should buy them a week or more. |

Yeah this team really cant afford to throw points away when the roster is relatively healthy...no guarantee it stays healthy, in fact, its most likely it doesnt haha. Bloom gives them the best chance at getting points right now...
...and regarding Ned...I dont even think he was THAT good down the stretch last year even though he was picking up W's. I also dont think it should be assumed that he's going to be great right out the gate this season, certainly not that he's already better than Bloom.
Tricky situation for Dubas, for sure. |

Pretty sure his stats weren't that good down the stretch. He did play like 13 in a row though.
The team just played better as a group when they were pushing to get in to the playoffs. Graves was out as well. |

TIOPS was saying we had open talks with Detroit this offseason, and recently posted up that they continue to "keep and open line of communication" about Jarry. |

That's when you knew Jarry was in the dog house. I thought Ned was obviously gassed and Sully kept putting him out there. He's a decent backup, not a starter. |

Just (frank)in' scratch him till he gets his head out of his arse. With McG sent down, they can just keep 3 tendies on the roster and ride the hot hand, no?

Yep, I said that a little further up. Until they think they need that spot no reason not to carry three. Eventually injuries, cap situations, or someone pushing hard from WBS could force them back to too, but for now might as well give Blomqvist the ball and see where he takes it. |

Pretty much what I wanted to stay. I don't think Ned is a starter, but most goalies would wear down playing that much. Sully tends to ignore that while most teams are managing goalie workloads |

I think they should just try to burry him in the AHL through Waivers and maybe by the grace of god some desperate team picks him up lol he's obviously not the answer and can't stay consistent.

Jarrys in his head. The team needs to step up and put forth some decent defensive efforts in front of him. No matter what frivolous individual achievement looms. Besides you can’t trade a healthy scratched goalie making 5 mil a year. |

I don't mind if they do. For him to come back and start like this after how last season ended is unacceptable. I have to see it to believe it though.
I'm also not convinced Blomqvist should be up yet. I'm willing to give him the chance. But if he struggles I'd send him back to the AHL for the good of his own development. Then you might want Jarry over Larson, but it would be worth it to get rid of Jarry. |

Husso just cleared waivers last week and he doesn't even have term, so I'd be shocked if anyone took Jarry right now. Not opposed to trying though. |

I think we're at our limit for retained salaries, but this team really won't have any cap problems moving forward. I think somebody would bite if he were a sub 4 mil player. |

If the waivered Jarry and someone claimed him. I would go for two and do the same to Graves in hope that they both would go elsewhere |
|
|
|
Our best chance of getting rid of Jarry is a) incentivizing a team with draft picks b) a swap for a similar caliber guy on a bad contract c) retain salary
I dont think we will do a or c, so I think Dubas will look for a hockey trade, similar to Daley for Scuderi back in the day. |

I find it interesting that all of these teams are rushing to sign goalies to big deals. There once was a time where giving big money to a goalie was seen as a death wish. I guess the increased cap and Bob changed that calculus. |
