Thanks for the Preview JJ and for giving us die-hard Hawkey fans a place to BS and talk hockey during work! As long as we keep politics and personal attacks out of here, debate and disagreement is a good thing and drives the conversation!
The loss of 8 has proven to be huge as they have once again become a 1 line team (Saad-Toews-Panik) in the 2 games without Schmaltz. That line has been a juggernaut, but more is needed from lines 2+4. Sharp+Debrincat are providing some nice depth scoring on line 3, but Kane + Hartman need to be MUCH better tonight if they want to come away with 2 points. Anyone have the projected Lines + D-Pairings? |

No schmaltz tonight bummer.
Hopefully the Hawks aren't looking ahead to the Preds on Saturday... hope we've got Nick back by then.
So far 7 out of 8 possible points can't be disappointed with those numbers.

JJ, do you know if the Blackhawks have went tapes of the 2 cheapshot hits (Schmaltz and DeBrincat) to the league? This is just mindboggling that the league is allowing players without the puck to not only be checked (which the last I heard is still illegal), but to target the hear on top of it. |

Saad-Toews-Panik
Hartman-Anisimov-Kane
Sharp-Kero-DeBrincat

Other tweets: Crow in net. Oesterle to Rockford. Franson in the press box. Forsling had 15 stitches from that puck to the mouth. Schmaltz skated this morning and hopeful for Saturday |

I don't love that Q is going back to Hartman-Anisimov-Kane. That line was absolutely dominated in the last two games. I'd put Kero up there at 2C who has more speed and is defensively responsible. Plus, Sharp-Anisimov-Debrincat was a solid line in games 1 + 2.... |

Agreed. Kero 2C/AA 3C makes the lines more balanced and keeps that 2nd line uber fast and tough to play against

Haaaaa. I attended a bunch OSU womens hockey games when one of the local girls played there and one pair of games was on the OSU-Michigan football weekend. Loved the T shirts "Ann Arbor is a whore". |

Schmaltz optimistic for Saturday. Sporting a shiner under his left eye. Asked if it was related to his upper-body injury: "Could be, yeah."

It's not often that you see 88 be completely ineffective two games in a row, but he was not good in either game on the road trip.
After four games, there are certainly issues of concern, but time will tell. Nice that they're banking points, though ....

With Oesterle to Rockford, let's hope the remaining 7 dmen view this positively and bear down and provide quality minutes. Further, the less minutes 2 and 7 need to play now, the fresher/better they will be come April.
And I hope Oesterle gets plenty of minutes that force the 'Hawks to bring him back up. |

Don't think they are a 1 line team with Schamltz out. Kane is still dangerous. Q needs to stop using that line as a checking line though. Sharp Cat line have been dangerous at times too.
There is less of a threat without Schmaltz in. The first 2 games it looked like we had 2 legitimate first lines as far as offensive goes. 1A+ and 1A.
Last year literally only Kane's line was a threat to score the vast majority of the time.
I have a feeling that they come out firing tonight. Wild need to be careful they don't turn into a speed bump. |

i haven't seen a varified account that says Oesterle to Rockford. He will have to pass thru waivers... not sure he would make it. |

They haven't confirmed if Oesterle is going to RFD, Q just said he needs to be playing and they like him. Tthe problem with RFD is he has to pass through waivers. |

I don't think that's happened yet but it's likely.
If Oesterle goes to Rockford I hope Hinostroza gets the recall. |

Well Kane was pretty much terrible the last two games, evidenced by both they eye test and the advanced stats. Last year is in the past, my friend....no more Lil Arty + Kaner connection on line 2.

Why can't I just recall someone from Rockford and assign someone like Forsling "on paper" for a game just so Oesterle gets a game in?
We don't need to actually send Forsling to Rockford... |

First, you are Stan Bowman and you can do anything you want.
Second, for other GMs, if they wanted to get Oesterle into a game they could just sit another defenseman, there's no issue there. Since the roster is at 23 they'd need to send another player to Rockford before calling up anyone (like Hinostroza).
My guess is that they want to keep Forsling playing and learning. Oesterle was good in camp, but if somebody needs to go to Rockford it will be him. |
