To me the flyers should have just paid ryjo his money and stick him on the injured list all year. dont see what the end game or benefit really is at this time.
the optics don't look good no matter how this turns out. this could have short and long-term effects with free agents and agents in general. just another cloud over a struggling franchise who really didn't need any more bad press.
so, if they do settle this just looks petty and no real gain. |

- if TK isnt a PPG then that is very disappointing.
- the ivan can challenge for the top spot as sam just isnt anything special. This is why I think Kolosov is at camp. The 2 guys ahead of him are not any great shakes.
- why not for MM as he is one of the favorites. depends how the coach uses him and who he plays with.....
- owen can get to 30. I think he will be a 22-35 goal scorer.
- frost it depends. see MM above. wont be shocked either way if he does or does not get to 20

Add him to the list of bums that have come to town only to refuse to do their part and we should pay him anyway to save face? Terrible take |

I believe Tippett could get 40 in the right situation. Get a new PP coach and line him up on the half wall on his off wing! Set him up for one timers galore. The guy had 8 points on the PP last season which is a disgrace. FIRE ROCKY!! |

they planned on paying him from day 1. need to look at the long term ramifications by trying to terminate the contract. yeah such a terrible take.
what is there to gain by termination the contract? especially if they settle. |

I see TK in the 70-75 point range, it’s difficult to get to that PPG across the entire season with no real running mate. |

Who pisses in your Cheerios every morning? Ryjo has had a reputation for years around the league about things just being about him. He was fine when he was playing in Colorado and then suddenly he is too injured to play at the AHL level. He gets no benefit of the doubt based on his track record, but I'm sure you'll find fault in the Flyers like you ALWAYS do! |

Only 17 players in the NHL scored 40 or more goals. It's a long way from 28 goals to 40 goals. In order to make up that difference on the PP, he would have to be one of the top PP goal scorers in the league.

Of course, Torts probably doesn't want the one timers on the PP cause if you miss the net the puck can go out of the zone on it's own. Defense defense defense...lol! |

It's a stretch. Maybe if the Flyers added a top flight elite play making center for him to play with. Otherwise, Tippet's offensive game is too limited to be a consistent 40 goal guy.

Well seeing how Ryan Johansson is a huge jerk and a major problem in every dressing room, I’m surprised anyone was at his wedding at all to see him lift his pride up.
Like, what are we doing here? You can have hip issues and still do things. The guy doesn’t have to be on a Cain. If I’m the player, I’d stand by the injury (mostly because he has no choice) but the Flyers have pretty much gone out of their was to assassin his character before they even know him themselves.
We “heard” you’re a cancer. Down to the minors for you. This team isn’t in a position to be picky over who plays for them. |

He needs to be able to score more in sets (in zone) rather than just off the rush. I think putting him in that position on the PP would help, but if they insist on keeping Rocky (thanks Torts) nothing is gonna change there. |

Than he went to Nashville and got a big payday, and was considered lazy. Traded to Colorado cause they tired of his act in Nashville. Also heard that not only were the Avs happy to get out from underneath his contract, but that they were also happy to get him out of their room! When players of his ilk keep getting traded something is up. Where there is smoke there is fire. |

As long as Rocky is running the pp, hitting 18% would be a miracle. |

he has no such reputation. surely there are numerous articles out there about it no?
the flyers are a poorly run organization. dems the facts. just because you suck off their crank doesn't change that in any way.
yes, the flyers are at fault as they get zero benefit of the doubt. unless the evidence they have is so overwhelming it makes zero sense to go down this avenue. especially when they will likely end up settling. what's the benefit? |

I agree that the Flyers wouldn't be attempting this if they didn't have guidance from the league and weren't on firm ground. The best speculative guess I have seen is that Johansen has been unwilling to rehab or has been putting off surgery in order to be purposely not ready for the season. Seems like he doesn't want to play. Just collect his money. The wedding may be part of the evidence, but cant alone be the predicate. |

Tippet on his own merit, doesn't have 40 goal potential in my opinion. I think he could be elevated by an elite playmaker to the 35 goal range.

For the record, there are a number of players on Colorado who had good things to say about him. Including players that attended his wedding.

if he has been unwilling to rehab than an open and shut case in flyers favor. haven't seen anything to indicate that is the case.
didn't risto rehab for several months then got surgery? many players try that first. if ryjo has indeed been rehabbing and now wants the surgery that isn't out of the ordinary. despite what his motives may, be such as not wanting to play.
also keep in mind that briere has said himself (public record) that ryjo is injured. said he will likely never play again. flyers doctors would have had to agree that he is injured. to what extent? who knows.
will be interesting to see how this shakes out if no settlement. hopefully there is no settlement so we can hear both sides of this. either way this is mickey mouse garbge that makes the team look petty and in a bad light. |

I admonish them as much as the next guy when they make blunders and was livid when they passed on Buium! I haven't bought a ticket since the 2012 playoffs, but I try to have hope in the team that I am a fan of. I know that they are NEVER gonna tank like folks like you want, so I have to hope it works. Their philosophy has almost worked before, but the last 12 years have been a disgrace due to incompetent management (the end of Homer's tenure, Hexy and Chuckles). Do I have lots of faith in this current regime? Probably not, but I have to give them the benefit of the doubt until it becomes painfully obvious that they are just as bad as the previous regimes. |

That's how I see it too. The Flyers also lose a possible asset if RyJo is allowed to just sit out the year. If he played the Flyers might be able to get a draft pick or something for him during the year.
I am fine with the Flyers trying to terminate the deal. I do not think RyJo is acting in good faith in this scenario.
