Here’s one guy you need to see fall flat on his face. For all smaller market teams, guys like this need to sit and stew no more Lindros crap, play or go to the KHL |

Drafting a player gives you the exclusive right to sign a player. It doesn't require a player to sign. Or do you just find it unseemly that a player would try to direct where they play using the only leverage they had? Kid seems bright to me. |

Calm down boomer. Did you get a choice on where you were going to build your future or was it a shotgun hire?
For a chance at winning sooner than later he should have stuck with Winnipeg. For whatever reasons he didn’t want to be there so he got out. Maybe these kids are entitled these days or maybe they will use their leverage by sitting out the 4 years in college to do what’s best in their opinion for them. All these teams and owners will screw any of these players over for the betterment of the team if they can. How many players get drafted and not offered a contract when maybe another team might have? 🤷🏻♂️ sucks when it’s your team and unless it’s addressed in the next cba maybe the next player will bail on Pittsburgh for all I know. Get over it, let them go instead of having another mopey Kane or laine dragging the team down. |

I've been and loved it. However, if you're not into hunting, fishing, no people, poopty chinese food, and cold winters it's not for you. It's always sunny though... opposite of Pittsburgh and PA in general.

This kid needs to run the goalie, fight someone and give Sullivan the middle finger on his way to the box his first shift. Signifying the end of the coward hockey approach in Pittsburgh. |

It definitely is. I'm heading to Saskatchewan here in a month for a waterfowl hunt. |

Translation. Unlike in Winnipeg, Pittsburgh has so much money wrapped up in old guys that they probably can't afford to NOT put me on their NHL squad. |

I was hoping we'd get McGroaty, but not at the cost of Yager. I am very surprised by the optimism toward McGroaty a bit. I think he can turn into a really good player, but I see people penciling him in for the 1LW spot with Crosby.
I think he could end up being Guentzel 2.0 (albeit a thicker one), but not sure he is ready for it yet. But they are going to do everything possible to set him up for a roster spot and overall success. Dubas has made quite a few questionable moves thus far and he really needs this one to work for him. He is less of a sure thing, but I think the ceiling is higher with Yager, so he needs McGroaty to get off to a running start. |

I’m more of a predator fly fisherman. I’d be going for pike. Currently not allowed in Canada. |

My stepson was supposed to come with me on this trip. He screwed up and he's not allowed across for a while...
Screws up family vacations for the foreseeable future, we fish in Ontario a couple of times a year.
Canada is for sure stricter on some things than we are here in the states. |

No more or less of a sure thing than Yager. I like that he has size and plays with some grit, has some personality.
Dubas said he wants to get younger and although we don’t have any grade A prospects he has gotten us a few that could actually crack an nhl roster. Hopefully we can somehow get more top 6 potential players though. |

Yeah. God forbid a guy drives home from the bar after 4 piss beers with a center brake light out. I’ll be back in Ontario in 4 more years. |

Per TopDownHockey, McGroaty has a higher chance of becoming a start than Yager, and an 80% chance of becoming a full NHL vs. Yager's 52%.
While this is all likely to do with McG being 1 year further in development, at this point in time McG has a higher ceiling IMO.

I think he's probably snagged 4-6 prospects who are good bets to be NHLers in the next 2-3 years, like you mentioned the top 6 potential is going to be the positions they really need to hit on them. I think trading for/offer sheeting Nick Robertson could help that given that he's a 23 year old NHLer with some potential.

J Fresh’s model has McG at 80% nhler 15% star and Yeager som thing like 50% and 10%. Seems like their ceilings are similar but Rutger’s floor is way higher and he’s ready to sink or swim now. It’s a no brainer trade. Wish we had both but thems the ropes. |

If you've kept your nose clean and did the ARD program you can apply for a TRP (temporary residency permit). And of course if you pay them (around $200) you can get back in after 5 years instead of the standard 10.

There's a decent bit of optimism for sure in penciling him next to Sid. Part of that is even those of us who like DOC don't see him as a top line wing, so the opportunity is there. I think he'll start on the third line, but good chance he works his way up.
Alternatively though, with the roster crunch, I hope they don't put him in WBS until it sorts itself out if he shows he's ready. But I could see it with 12 vets and 6 other candidates with everyone but Ponomarev needing waivers. |
