Risto is worse than Nurse. He's no better defensively and much worse offensively. Only looks competent in Philly when playing 6D minutes. Play him in the top four and he'll suck as he always has. On his contract he's a major liability and would never consider him at all for EDM.
Andersson would be a safe upgrade and most accessible. Spurgeon and Murphy are risky. Zub is gonna cost a lot as OTT wants more RD not less.

I worked with Jared's dad forever ago, back when his older bro was drafted by the Oilers too. If he's 100% healthy, he's a solid d-man.

Last thing we need to do is replace Ceci with a less gooder more expensive Ceci. If you can get your hands on a Zub/DeMello type D, you do what you have to to make it work, but hard no to RR/Murphy/Gudbranson type acquisitions. Either way, unless the team is completely imploding, you see what you have in Emberson/Wanner type younger players before the trade deadline rolls around. Stetcher/Carrick/Kemp are already in-house, Brown was signed for 3 years (ugh). Maybe try to slide Kulak to his off-wing and sign Dermott for the 3LD. Plenty of better options than throwing more cap away on a pricey pylon with term.

Murphy also has some injury problems -some talk about potential for LTIR -I guess we'll see if he hits the ice at camp in full drills.

Ristolainen (30% retained)

for

Raphael Lavoie

Lavoie I don't believe he will become a superstar, but depth at center with size.

You can have Risto, but it’ll cost you a really nice bag of pucks. New ones.

Thanks Sean.
What’s a realistic trade for Andersson?
Holloway and a 1st? Broberg and a first? Savoi and a first?
Oilers will probably have to send a crappy contract in order to trade for RA?

EDM 'might' have been able to pry Zub away two years ago when he was in his final year of RFA status with an uncertain future, but he's signed for 3 more years on a contract that very much understates his importance to the team. Case in point, he's not a middle option at RD, he's their top RD by a country mile. Given the seriousness with which OTT is trying to win games under their new ownership, and their own recent experience with the difficulty of adding a #2RD to the roster, trading for Zub is by far the least probable of those trade scenarios.

The last thing the oilers need is Risto. He's horrible.

But Andersson or murphy would look good, Andersson would actually be awesome.
I just dont see the flames dealing him to the oilers and the cost would be high.
But worth it IMO....would love him on the leafs.

I think murphy would be good as well...just in a different role than andersson obviously

I really think the oilers need to move out Nurse next year.....you could put that cap to better use.
Not sure where or who would take on that full contract though.

Anywho, good luck this season. Oilers are my 2nd fav team to watch.

With today's PTO announcement I doubt the Oil are looking at their blueline anymore. Why worry about defence when you plan on scoring 9 a game?

Bowman will shore it up. After all they just made game 7 of the SCF with their current defense not too bad lol
