I think the Panthers have an excellent chance of making the playoffs as long as they stay healthy. But after last night game in which the rookies got blown out, I didn't see any standout players. Which shows me only one thing, the Panthers have no depth. Spencer Knight with his apathic play proves he is not a starting, much less a backup goalie. They have a lot of fourth line goons, like AJ Geer and Lockwood, but the Panthers need a goal scorer, not a penalty maker. I liked the undersize Benning as he reminds me of a young Danny Boyle. Black at 6'8" has more potential than Knight. I'm not sold on Patrick Giles either.

The rookies were playing against most of Carolina’s regular team. Not a shocking result, at all.

AS rookies though you want to prove you can play just as well as the veterans against an opposing team. The Panthers rookies did not, and showed everyone they are exactly that, that they are AHL players not ready for the parent club. The Panthers are going to be in trouble when Barkov and Ekblad known to go on the IR list frequently during the season.
