Actually think Acciari is perfectly fine at 4RW. His contract sucks but he’s a decent bottom line RW, much better than he is a center, and if we’re going to move that contract at some point he needs to play probably.

I’m intrigued by the makeup of the bottom six in these line rushes. I think it puts the three guys that need the most evaluation (McGroarty, Glass, and Puljujarvi) in positions where we can get a good idea of where they actually are

I heard from someone behind the scenes that Sullivan likes Boko Imama. I wonder if he gets a spot?

Agree on Accairi. I hated him at C last year. But I think RW is his more natural position. So even if he's over paid I'm open to a fresh start for him.

Most interesting things to me on the lineup were:
1) Brunicke getting the look over Aho and Shea
2) Puljujarvi on the third line over Hayes and Glass.

Nothing would surprise me about who the 13th forward is if Lizotte can't go. I don't believe anyone has stood out

Poulin, Bennstrom, Gruden placed in waivers today. So seems to be down to Imama, McGroarty, and Puustinen.

Ludvig also on waivers

Agreed. I thought he was definitely miscast at center last year. Good PK'r. Blocks a ton of shots.

Bottom 6 as a whole will be better this season. I don't expect Pulj to score 30, but he looks good.....and motivated.

Karlsson non contact but practiced with the main team for the first time today. He was also on the top PP with Letang. Rust is out day to day, so not sure who the odd man out will be. Letang, Rackell, or Rust may all be options IMO.

I'd guess Puustinen. Makes no sense for McGroarty to be your 13th forward. Get him top line minutes in the AHL.

Would have been good to see Brunicke away from Petts a few games. Hopefully he plays tonight with graves to see how he does without one of the better defensive dmen in the lg. there’s no way Petts plays with the 3rd pair RD so if Brunicke is gonna stay he might as well get a healthy dose of graves.

I imagine the top 6 is the same as last year. Final battle probably between Beauvillier and Groaty for that 3rd LW spot.

Bottom 6 will be … interesting this year.

Am I stupid or is the SNP360 app annoying to navigate and I have no clue how to turn the current game on.

Prior to last year when he was playing primarily center, he was a plus minute eating bottom liner. He wasn’t much of an offensive force but I think I’m much more forgiving to defensive specialists as long as they’re plus players than RW is (shocker). I mean I was a big fan of both ZAR and Bluegs and I think RW Acciari kinda falls into that same category of impact.

Re:Glass: did you catch the intermission interview a couple of games ago where Hayes was asked about playing with Glass? I think the org/coaches seem to think that might be a combo so I think they’re trying to keep them together. Eller is the 3C so if those two are going to play together it has to be on the fourth line.

Interesting. No I tend to record and skip intermission a lot. Don't mind a little more talent on that fourth line. Might actually be a strength this year.

Also, I think Puljujarvi might just deserve a shot at the third line the way he is playing, so happy to see he might get that.

Can't help but get the feeling that these kids are breathing some new life into the team. Long overdue.

Now hopefully sully realizes that… and that they can actually keep it up once the adrenaline wears off.

Sully seems to legitimately love Brunicke, from context clues I think he sees Hayes and Glass as a forward pairing, and it feels like Puljujarvi is unstoppable at this point to borrow a soccer term. Maybe it’s not just the team being reinvigorated by this, but the coach too

And although he’s not a kid, shout out Grinder but I feel like Sullivan may want to keep Boko around. I wouldn’t mind him being the press box guy that gets the odd game if he’s doing wonders for a locker room that just seemed flat out out of it last year

The 3rd and 4th lines are looking damn good. I imagine this will be lineup on opening night at this rate.

Too bad tonight wasn’t opening night. And this is also versus cbus. But I’d say they are appearing to be an improvement over last year haha.

I see Boko as an un-offensive player that would be a good fit for certain teams that tensions rise. He might be a good 13 forward but I think that might be Beauvillier due to his versatility and actual history of putting up some points.

It really is a shame we didn’t have a Bunting beforehand and it had to be an exchange for Guentzel. I feel like Bunting was a factor we’ve been sorely missing since Hornqvist and the trajectory of this team during the twilight years would have been so different if we had Bunting a year or two earlier

Beau needs to be able to be a third line scoring winger or he’s useless. And I was a huge fan of the Beau signing but if he’s the 13th forward here it’s because he’s cooked

If Beau loses his third line wing spot to guys like Puljujarvi and McGroarty, is that really bad? I don't even think that would mean he's shot, just that they found better guys. When he signed, McGroarty wasn't a Penguin and nobody had much hope for Puljujarvi.

I'm not sure I put both of them over Beau right now, but I'm honestly not sure I don't either. And even if he doesn't make it now, McGroarty can still be a factor later.

Pens might actually have some good depth problems at forward.

No it’s not bad. Obviously Puljujarvi and McGroarty are way more important to the Pens than one year of Beau. I’m just saying that if he can’t be a third liner he’s likely useless to us
