Even Buffalo looks more like a playoff team than Detroit right now. I'm all for getting rid of LaLonde and getting Quennville... if he's even open to coaching again. This team will be out of the playoff race in a month or two at this rate. No defensive structure and lack of offense. Team looks lost and/or apathetic. Yzerman will have no choice but to fire LaLonde if things don't turn around quickly... Yzerman and LaLonde both are going to be on the hotseat if they keep losing. |

3 loses! 2 against what may be a SCF team! And the pitchforks and torches are out! |

? 5 years into this. you just let us know when its ok for us to beat good teams.
this is a capped out team and the 6th oldest in the league. so, the rebuild is over given that info? i know Yzerman is a legend here so its hard for some of us to hold him accountable. he hasnt drafted well beyond the first round, hes overpaid for free agents, hes never figured out the goaltending. I could go on. |

Kasper just recalled to Detroit. Better late than never I guess... Read it's an "emergency" call-up. So guessing somebody got injured last night against the Rangers. I'd say the real emergency is how bad this team is playing right now. |

I’ll keep saying this until I’m blue in the face, in my opinion this season was never about winning or taking a next step. They’re not ready for that. None of us truly know Yzerman’s intentions, veterans are here to bide time and allow kids to soak, not try and complement a core that doesn’t yet exist. |

Bring on the Q! His coaching with Kane, DeBrincat, and Gus… he knows the players and will make the tough calls. |

I get that you’re frustrated, but continuing to buy into this false narrative that there’s a specific timeline for being good will only continue to frustrate you. There’s no set timeline, you just keep building until you establish a core, which is extremely challenging without a top three pick, something Yzerman’s not had.
His first round drafting has been excellent, given his position, second and beyond is still up in the air. Again, it’s pure nonsense he hasn’t drafted well outside of the first round. Look at those drafts and name a kid that’s lighting the league on fire that they missed on, I’ll wait. |

You can wait 82 games but the reality is, this is a team in the 75 to 85 point range. Just reality. |

10 is where the real concern starts. It allows for adjustments. If progress is not seen, then it starts to be an issue. This team as constructed is not a play-off team. Even Edmonton is not panicking, and they have the same record, and the Avs are not panicking either, who are arguably worse off mainly because of injury and they both have a defensively bad game as well. |

You have good points. I think the issue with Lalonde is he doesn’t have a brand of hockey people understand. He just comes off nice and soft. Not that we need a Babcock again at the helm…. |

Assuming Yzerman’s plan is to build through the draft, I know it was a long time ago, I’m old, but one of the greatest teams ever assembled through the draft was the dynasty Islanders. They drafted some of the greatest players the games ever seen and it took them eight years from drafting Bob Nystrom in 1972 and Denis Potvin 1st overall in 1973 to win a Stanley Cup.
He’s either gotta draft top three or get a steal in the draft to get a couple franchise players, on top of Raymond, Seider and the depth guys they appear to have taken. |

Honestly reading this comment section is so cringe. I used to talk and try to be social with these people but holy poop they love female doging and moaning. Lions are incredible looking, Tigers are coming out this year and these miserable cows can’t find any joy or solace in that.
And I’m the “troll” for loving and supporting the team. I’ve seen more patience from a toddle than this lot.
Shoot me a message we can chat about Red Wings stuff without being harassed. |

Was just going to say the same thing. Edmonton has two of the best offensive players in the league in McDavid and Draisaitl. Colorado has MacKinnon, Makar and Rantanen again 3 top players in the league. |

Problem is the Wings are not drafting top 3 anymore. The team isn't bad enough anymore for a shot at that with some teams tanking every year. The other problem is this isn't the 70's, 80's or even 90's anymore when it comes to drafting. Every team can easily scout players all over the world now. The odds of getting a Fedorov or Lidstrom beyond the first round are a lot slimmer than they use to be.
There is still one country that you might still be able to get steals from and that's Russia because of the war and the fact that it might take longer to get players to leave there but the Wings seem to refuse to draft Russians. Buchelnikov is the only Russian prospect they have. |
