The comment about replacing Lalonde with an internal candidate until the summer when a top coach is available is more signs of ineptitude. Montgomery is a very accomplished coach. He was available and then quickly scooped up. Quenneville is an obvious upgrade on Lalonde. Even a guy like Jay Woodcroft, who has connections to the franchise, would be worth looking at. So who are they waiting to talk to? Let me guess - Jon Cooper?
Yzerman needs a new coaching staff and should revamp both amateur and pro scouts. Start over. If he won't do that. Then fire Yzerman. |

There is no internal candidate (unless Lidstrom comes down from the office) I would even contemplate as bench boss. For scouting, a couple kids are starting to come around but swapping some personnel shouldn’t be off the table. |

They would probably just slap an interim tag on Boughner to play out the season. Very exciting stuff.

My hockey buddy thinks the same. Ironically booger is supposed to implement the defensive scheme and I’m not sure there is one |

I totally agree with Cooleus , Yzerman has to have the courage to improve his team by changing coaches ( I also would include Gallant and Federov to the list that Cooleus mentioned). Yzerman not doing anything is a reason to change GM |

I’ve opined to some friends, why not have Lidstrom take a shot? Fedorov fascinates me, of poop on the wall hoping to stick has a “wait and see” on Sullivan. That doesn’t really jive. I’m going down the list of who “could” be available with Sandin-Pellikka, Lombardi, Danielson, Augustine could go to GR. We have some young. Players that could be coming, whoever they get has to be able to wrangle and get things in place where they can play without overthinking. Feels like Fedorov could be creative on that front |

Put me in the minority, but I really don't want Fedorov or Lidstrom behind the bench. You need an experienced voice that knows the league well. Suppose Fedorov and Lidstrom had never played for the Wings...would they even be a consideration? Not a chance. Like why not randomly say we want Peter Forsberg or Scott Niedermayer to coach?
This old-boys club is what led us down this path. Our staff already includes Draper, Lidstrom, Kronwall, Cleary, Fischer.
Does anyone ever hold pro scouts accountable for our atrocious UFA signings and trades? That group is led by former Wings Kirk Maltby, Boyd Gordon, Brian Flynn, and Yzerman's brother Chris. Our amateur scouts are led by ex-player Jesse Wallin. What kind of resume and accomplishments did any of these people have before being hired? As I said, I'd fire almost everyone and start over. |

Hey Cool, you’re beginning to sound like me.
Too much Cronyism in Yzerman’s domain. |

Feds is a winning COACH in the KHL!!!!!!
As a KHL head coach: 229 games, 136 wins.
July 14, 2021 Appointed as CSKA’s head coach.
Feb. 20, 2022 Silver medal at the Olympic Games as one of Team Russia’s assistant coaches.
Apr. 30, 2022 Led CSKA to Gagarin Cup triumph in his debut season, rallying from a 1-3 result in the final series.
I understand not putting Lids in that position, but couldn't t The Perfect Human do anything? But then The Great One kinda failed at coaching.........
I still prefer Q
