hey guys use to post on here often a number of years ago, not so much anymore.
I am just looking to take the temperature of the fan base.
is it time to call for "it" to be blown up again and start anew? |

Management are a bunch of (frank)ing idiots, and 90% of our players are lazy, heartless sacks of sh1t who have absolutely no heart... (frank) everyone in the organization BUT Hall, Perron (possibly RNH) and Joey Moss! |

way way too early to call the rebuild a failure. I was hoping we'd be better by now, but Pittsburgh and Chicago weren't successes. They were perfect successes. |

im having a hard time identifying whats stopping our talent from succeeding.
im not sure Eakins is the right guy and the system will have huge effects in our success, that being said weve done the whole coach thing before, so I don't think that is the answer.
I see a need for three top three defence men
I see a need for 2 maybe three big bodies in out top 6 (with sufficient skill)
goaltending I don't have an issue with yes dubnyk lets in soft goals from time to time but has a history of good numbers here, I think his poor seasonas a lot to do with the team infornt of him
our prospect pool is okay and we have talent but I don't think we have enough guys close to filling our needs, the last two drafts we have loaded up on talented Russians who are high risk and probably top 6 smaller forwards, or large players who are likely bottom six players
a quick look at our list of pending free agents means next season we are likely to have a large roster turn over, our system does not seem to have players ready to fill the open spots, our defenceman prospects likely need more time or if they do make the jump likely need to play bottom pairing minutes
in free agency I do not see how a team out of the playoffs for 8 years running that has taken a step backwards would be an attractive location for free agents, meaning we will have to fill our roster out with overpays and cast offs
to try and address our needs through trade well we simply have too many holes, every player we trade out to fill a hole would need to be replaced
this is why I wonder if it isn't time to re-rebuild. our defence help isn't coming for a few years and by then will our young guns be looking for a way out of the seemingly endless struggle this team is on.
I get that our 06 run lead the organization to deplete all assets in hopes of recapturing that magic I get that the system was totally void of talent when the rebuild started. I honestly can see we are better today than we were then even if the record does not show it. I just wonder if continuing to add young impressive high pick players to our toxic environment will not get the same results we are seeing now

We don't need to blow it up again. We have a lot of assets now compared to pre-hall. We just need to start making a few tough decisions and taking some chances. |

It's a real disappointment than we haven't had rampant success without making any tough decisions whatsoever.
Rebuild failed.
In other news, I'm really disappointed my girlfriend Christina Hendricks wasn't on board with that threesome with Allison Brie |

Well let's just say reddit has communities for celebrity fakes and for fuxtaposition ( http://www.urbandictionar...?term=Fuxtaposition%20GIF) and there's some good Alison brie content on each - Morris
I (frank)ing LOVE Allison Brie. I'd replace Hendricks with Kate Beckinsale, thats my only comment. |

i think they drafting of Yakupov kinda shows whats wrong with the organization
they need goaltending, they need defense, and they just go after another lazy, offensive minded player ( russian too on top of that)
they need to start drafting for their needs not their strengths
i really hope klefboom and nurse turn out to be studs because the oiler fans deserve better |

You should be a GM. You have it all figured out. FYI, Murray would be doing SFA to help the Oilers this year. Drafting 1st overall for needs would be the dumbest thing any GM could ever do. |

Normally I think you would be right but after drafting first overall the prior two years and drafting forwards both times, some consideration of team needs probably should be in the equation the third time around. That said it's too early to tell if we should have picked Murray over Yak. |

At that time, our D core may have been better than it is now. Also, our D prospects weren't looking too shabby and were better as a group than our forwards for sure.

far from it, but i have my own $0.02 i figured id toss in the bucket... which is more than you have done in this thread
Getting murray could have involved trading down if columbus was willing, picking up extra assets
Its hard to argue that the oilers would have been a better team with Murray in the line up and Yakapov out this year.... in the future obviously that could easily be a different story

....in the future it could also prove that Yakapov was the better pick. Murray missed all of last year and might be back by playoff this year. 2 years into his pro career and alreay injuries are a concern. If I recall correctly, Columbus wasn't interested in trading down. |

Right now the only thing that would've made the most sense would be to have traded Yak for a proven NHL player. At this point I don't even know that Murray is going to be the best d-man of the group. Trouba is showing exactly what we need. Lindholm has looked good as has Maata.
Honestly trying to get 2 top 12 picks would've been a good option as well. Taking a Grigensons and a Trouba might've been what the doctor ordered. Then again Yak could develop over the summer and score 40 goals next year and no one will question anything. |

As soon as the club can turn it around and start producing and winning again, I think everyone will be willing to just forget about the last x number of years of frustrations. |
