I am going to bet the habs are done signing, but...
What about...Devon Setoguchi, Lee Stempniak, Brendan Morrow, Steve Ott, Ryan Jones (would be a great addition) Matt Gilroy, Daniel Cleary, Brandon Yip, etc.
There are a lot of what ifs...Scherbak says he wants to play in the NHL next year, does he fit?
If you could make one last move to complete the roster, what would you do? |

Scherbak will not make the NHL club next year however Sekac likely will.
With that said, do we really need to add another player? I personally do not see any top 6 forward in the current crop of UFA's still available. So why sign a guy like Stempniak or Setoguchi when frankly we don't need them. IMO one of Serbac, Andrightetto or Jacob De La Rose will win that top 6 spot.
If none take the reigns then MB will acquire someone via trade. |

"If" one of those three didn't make the club, who do you think MB would trade?
I totally agree with you by the way. Just wanted to hear what other fellow Habs fans think? |

Who would Bergevin trade or who would we trade for?
I think the answer to that is whether MB wants to go young and build a nucleus that will grow together or whether he will trade for a veteran to settle down the lines.
I am convinced that Patrick Sharp is high on the list because of the Blackhawks cap issues. Chicago cannot take much salary back either meaning prospects and picks and a roster player making under $3 million.
Hypothetical:
Patrick Sharp to Montreal in exchange for Rene Bourque, Artturi Lekhonen, and the Sabres 2nd round pick? Lekhonen united with Teroveinen?
To be honest though I am not sure. Trades are all over the place in terms of the compensation. Gagner for a 5th? |

I think S.Ott could help push the 4th/3rd line. I'm pretty sure he would eventually push Moen over...
Can't believe I'm writing that. I hate that Ott !! Lol |

He definitely could but we don't need anther $3 million 4th liner. Malhotra will d fine as center and Eller on 3rd. Habs need a top 6 winger who can score not grinders. Eller, Bourque, Bournival, prust, Moen, malhotra, Weise are 7 guys vying for 6 spots. Then I am sure we might see another kid make a pitch for that role as well.
Right now we have:
Patch-DD-Gallagher
Galcheyuk-Plekanec-PAP
Prust-Eller-Bourque
Bournival-Malhotra-Weise
Mayb Sekac gets in on the 3rd line and Prust moved to 4th?
I hope we get another top 6 and then slid everyone down. So let's say you get Sharp (Hypthetically)

Don't forget McCarron, He was one of the last cuts last year, he was noticed in every pre-games, he already has the physical shape to play in the big league and he's a 1st rounder (they always seem to give more chances to 1st rounders..).
And at 6 foot 5 inches and 228Lbs (when drafted, might be more now)...
I wouldn't count him out. |

Agreed,
Didn't think at the salary part...
I don't like Gallagher on 3rd line, don't want to ruin a good potential kid
again (like we did with R.White).
Then again, that would give 3 offensive line, but who's the Defensive minded
line that we play against all the opposant's 1st line?
We'd have to play offence against offense, would we have the 1st line for that?

It always looks good when you just slid down the players, but in reallity, you would
not have Sharp without a roster player.
But i'd take Sharp in my team anytime, I would have taken Neal right away also
but too late for that.. Lol

I think Sharp could be had, question is for what. Chicago is in a world of hurt cap wise. Not sure what the answer is with a trade though |

Count him out. He's gonna play in London this year. He got no PP time and played 3rd line minutes last season. I could see him getting a few games in 2015-16 once he's in the AHL, but forget him this season.
It's De la Rose, Andrighetto and Sekac who are fighting for a spot. |

I'd give Booth and Morrow camp try outs. If the 3 kids I mentioned in the post above are anywhere near Booth and Morrow's level, don't sign Booth or Morrow. Look to bolster the line up via trade between November and the trade deadline. |

I was thinking Booth is an excellent buy-low option as well. Kid has the potential to put up very nice numbers. Problem is unscrambling his brain and getting him back into hockey. |

I agree with what you're saying but how did the Habs screw up Ryan White? I think Therrien did a bad job utilizing him this year but he is what he always projected to be: agitator who plays good D. |

I taught White had the "Nuckle Nilan" potential, he was jumping on
anyone to protect his teamates, no BS invitations.
Then came the game where Ott was pissing-off everyone and he
tried to jump him and of course he turtled... ended-up with a 5min and
they scored and won, 5 games in the crowd... then the elbow to the
face suspension (which every agitator gets thrue at one point), another
5-7 games in the crowd.
That was it, he barely dropped after and lost all his game spirit that
braught him to the NHL.
So that's my taught, Therrien ruined him. Hopefully he'll get his real game
back with another team.
IMO
PS: comparaisons with Gallagher was bad, they don't have the same atributs
at all |

Yea, thats what I meant about Therrien misusing him. He'll land a job somewhere and do very well as a 4th liner.
He did have a problem learning when to jump in and when to take the PP. Jumping Versteeg was a good example of that. He will learn that more as he gets older. |

MB should sit back and wait, after signing PK And Eller he will still have some spending money. He made bold moves letting go of three veterans, it's time to let some of these youngsters prove themselves.

I firmly believe that there is 0 validity to it hwver I saw 2 people source that Montreal and Nashville are looking a a trade.
Subban and one of Plekanec or Desharnais to Nashville for Weber and an unnamed forward.
Again, don't shoot the messenger, don't believe it. Just saying. |

Way i see it. If there is a rumor it's not true. Habs leak nothing.
Absolutely nobody had Malhotra, Gilbert, or Sekac everyone had Weaver leaving. Nobody had Vanek.
At the draft nobody had Habs going after Scherback. It was all about Lemieux.

You're dead on with everything, except Scherbak. Guy who used to do the play-by-play for Saskatoon, who's a part-time scout for them has been saying since March that the Habs were very high on Scherbak, possibly thought he could crack an NHL line-up this year. Don't think that part is happening but anyway. Bergevin runs a pretty tight ship. |
