Really? It happens all the time. If a #8 seed plays a #1 seed, and takes a team that is expected to be much better than they are to 7 games, it's very common for everyone to say "wow, Kudos to the #8 seed. They played well and did better than everyone expected them to do. They have a bright future".
You wouldn't call that success for the #8 seed? We do it all the time. - --Lamp--
Of course you do it all the time...you're a (frank)ing Leaf fan

Yeah, I guess we're just back to disagreeing on how to measure a good run. I think the context depends on who you're playing, and how you played. If the Leafs ran into Carolina in the first round and lost in 5 games, I would be unhappy with that run. But they didn't.. they ran into Boston and took them down to the wire.
No question I hoped for better, but for me, it wasn't a total failure. They put up a good fight against a solid team--a team who had a better regular season record, more experience, and was generally expected to beat the Leafs. I would have liked more, but I can't say that my team sucked in the playoffs this year--had they put in that kind of effort against nearly any other team in the playoffs, they likely would have advanced. Ce la vie. - --Lamp--
Something about your comments...silly would be the polite way somebody would refer them...other people, even Leaf fans might be a bit more harsh - Takemedrunkimhome
No doubt some Leafs fans would be more harsh. There's no shortage of disrespectful people on the internet, or these forums. I'm not throwing darts at anyone, and trying to have an intelligent conversation. If folks want to make comments and jabs about how the Leafs suck (they don't), or set their location to quotations without context around them, that's not something I control or care to. I'll just keep doin' what I do--try to cut thru a mundane work day with some hockey chat.
Kudos to the people who said Lehks and Armia would get $5m between them. Didn't see that at all but hey, they're gud pros, CJ guys, mentors for KK and blah blah. Armia at $2.6 + the $1.3m from the buyout of Mason...MB trying to look like he's not leaving unused cap space

Losing in the first round and wanting credit for it is pathetic. More than half the league makes the damn playoffs. Trying to justify the loss as better based on the nunber of games it took to lose or the end result of their opponent is about as desperate for recognition as one could get. Even Columbus knew they had to at least win a (frank)ing round. This isn't 6 year old co-ed soccer. Winning matters. Enjoy your participation trophy
Christopher (frank)ing Reeves could have went on a longer run this spring than the Leafs!! - Snots33_77
What would you call it then? If the Leafs didn't have a playoffs run this year, then what would you call it? Seems doubtful that it was a "non-run"; that would be what Ottawa or Montreal had.

Yikes. I guess I'll just leave it there. Have a good one man. Hope our teams meet in the playoffs soon--would be a fun series for sure.

A “run” would involve “advancing”. Wouldn’t you agree? You may want to reconsider your choice of word to describe your vantage point?

Yes...burn...the elite powerhouse Leafs finished 4 points ahead of the Habs in the regular season and lost in the first round. An epic run from the ages you can one day tell your kids about.
Fun fact...Leafs didn't win a single series while having Marner, Matthews and Nylander on their ELC. Even more fun from facts...the Leafs are the ONLY team to not have won a playoff series in thr salary cap era. Come to think of it now I gwt why you're celebrating the Leafs achievements last year...it's a near 15 year high water mark

I do too, considering the Leafs have proven how challenged they are at getting beyond the first round. Then when the Habs advanced you could say "oh, so that's what even a minor "run" looks like"

I think it's pretty common to talk about any journey within a playoffs as a run. I hear pundits and announcers making mentions to playoff runs all the time for teams that didn't advance to round 2. Doesn't seem strange at all.

What a run the Habs has this year eh? (frank) that was intense!!

So if I let my truck idle and don’t drive anywhere......did I just go on a journey?
You’re team had playoff experience at best my man. Sorry.

Will they raise a banner in October for this playoff appearance?
Well hopefully both of our teams can go on a run and meet in the ECF one day.... - Snots33_77
For sure. It's actually kind of amazing that there hasn't been a Leafs/Montreal series in so long. You'd think just by random chance we wouldn't have had to wait as long as we have.
You guys going to make the playoffs this year? To be honest I'm assuming "no", but I don't follow the Habs super closely.
