James Tanner: Daytime Games Have Consequences + What Are You Doing Big T?

So now the posters in the thread influence the blog. When I can't watch a game due to work or family commitments, I use a new fangled technology called a DVR or watch the game on demand. I especially would if it was my job to do so.

Wait a second...in game 1 Hall played 18 minutes, including over 6 minutes on the PP. Hall was in on a couple of the goals. The Coyotes won.

But you whined that Tocchet didn't play him enough at even-strength. Since your precious stats are so focussed on 5-on-5 data, you seemed to forget that Game 1 featured 13 minor penalties. But nonethless, the conclusion was Tocchet is an idiot. Hall needs more 5-on-5 ice-time. So does Barrett Hayton of course.

So in game 2 Tocchet did just that. There were fewer penalties, so Hall ended up with more 5-on-5 minutes (amazing how that happens!), and more importantly, Hall ended up with a couple of extra total minutes. Did he play better? No he was awful. He was minus 2, had just 2 shots, and took 8 minutes in penalties. Your hero Barrett Hayton went 0 for 7 on faceoffs before Tocchet finally benched him. You rag on Crouse, who scored again. You rag on Richardson who went 75% on faceoffs while everyone else got owned at the dot.

But I forgot. Faceoffs don't matter. Luck is more important. And Jfresh of course. Also, I'm not sure it would make a difference whether you watched the game or studied the boxscores. Not sure you know what to even look for.

This is a legitimately funny blog with call backs to some funny coyotes history. So kudos on that.

I do long, however, for the days when you used to break down games, lines and players and give us a true game recap (similar time what you do for the Leafs still).

Hmm, Tocchet scratched Barrett Hayton this afternoon. The kid was totally dominated last game. 0 for 7 on faceoffs. Minus 2 after like 5 shifts. Smart move by Tocchet to get the kid out of there. Coyotes are now rolling 4 lines and out to an early lead.

Tanner doesn't get this. He repeatedly says Hayton is ultra-skilled and should be playing a ton of minutes, but alas, Tocchet is a dinosaur who can't even read a Jfresh card.

I love how Tanner never misses a Leaf game and has time for numerous articles about them, but was "too busy" to watch the Coyotes game. He couldn't PVR the game and spend 60 minutes watching? He's screaming over and over about how Hall should play more and Richardson should play less and Crouse doesn't even belong in the NHL...yet doesn't watch the games to validate whether his views are off, which they obviously are.

Nothing to do with Tocchet. Preds were unlucky. It's all random. Kuemper played like Hasek and won it all by himself. Preds had the better Jfresh cards.
