6. Sam Richardinson, LHD, London-OHL
Richardinson has been off to a strong start in London. He has a lot of NHL traits due to his 6-3 frame, strong skating ability and some offensive touch. Richardinson is very skilled with the puck, but I wouldn’t call him a natural puck-mover. Defensively he’s quite solid due to his reach, feet and compete. He has a lot of NHL potential.
7. Charlie Elick, RHD, Brandon-WHL
Elick’s physical tools jump out at you as a 6-3 defenseman with pro mobility. He’s not a top-end puck-mover, but he has good hockey sense. He competes hard, isn’t afraid to use his big frame and makes a lot of defensive stops. It’s easy to think about Braden Schneider while watching Elick due to his similar junior team and handedness, but I would argue he’s ahead of Schneider at the same age.
These next two drafts have every sort of player that the Canucks need for the future and there are more than just a few.
I have faith that management will (frank) it up. - manvanfan

A lot to like from this game.
This game alone has all of the Canucks needs.
Right shot center, Yager, Danielson, Ritchie, Pitre, Cataford.
Right shot defence Allen, Bonk, Dragicevic.
If Canucks can get 2 out of these 8 in this draft. Successful draft. |

I’d start with 1 since I don’t project any of these as our 1st pick. That 1st pick will more than be a good pick. If we get the NYI pick this draft we’re off to the races with 2. Onto the 2nd round & very real potential to hit a home run & make it 3 big pieces. More high picks from trades & it’s off to the moon. |

I would think the dumbest thing for the Canucks to do this draft is to pick BPA of every position. Either trade down or reach for a position of need 100%.
There are probably 5 RHC to be taken anywhere in the first round and at least 4 RHD. This team needs to fill needs way more than BPA anymore with the absolute glut of wingers. |

When you add some of the Euro players like Reinbacher and Strbak, the draft is a really good opportunity to fill in many holes, into the much needed prospect pool.

He’s worth a late 2nd or 3rd. It was said if we got more picks which we definitely should aim for. I see us taking a BPA C in the 1st unless a RHD rises for us. 2nd round D is the hunt & in later rounds. - manvanfan

Totally agree. As you know I don’t like BPA so need has to be involved as well. No matter what I never want wingers unless outright game changers. A Kane in his prime who drives play & threat at any time. True sniper being Connor whom I like on many levels. |

Probably the same thing you were missing when you wanted Glass over Petey
I don't love Smith like Nighty does. I don't like him for the Canucks but he is still good.
Past the top 4 in this draft is a bundle of players that I don't know whether picking 1 or another would make a real difference.
A public person draft
10. Eduard Sale, LW, Kometa Brno (Cze.). Top 6
11. Colby Barlow, LW, Owen Sound (OHL). Top 6
12. Brayden Yager, C, Moose Jaw (WHL). Top 6
13. Ryan Leonard, RW, NTDP (USHL). Top 6
14. Dalibor Dvorsky, C, AIK (Swe.). Top 6
Bob's list has this section as
6. Yager
7. Barlow
8. Dvorsky
9. Leonard
12. Sale
I hope the Canucks make team decisions because I don't think there is a lot of separation in this draft in tiers. |

Draft-minus one USHL production:
• Adam Fantilli: 37G, 74PTS in 54GP (1.37 P/G)
• Macklin Celebrini: 35G, 61PTS in 36GP (1.69 P/G)
Oh, and Celebrini is 8 months younger than Fantilli was during his D-1 season. |

His name is Will Smith.... I was going to suggest picking him and Bonk on their names alone. Gives us a center and a RHD |

I don't think Will Smith would be a good fit for the Canucks roster. Good player but would require more shuffling once again. |

Players I'm starting to like more than others.
Not saying other players aren't good. Or even that these players will all be the best. Might find better value in most without sacrificing all that much talent.
Bedard
Fantilli
Carlsson
Michkov
Benson
Yager
Dvorsky
Ritchie
Heidt
Danielson
Reinbacher
DRagicevic
Musty
Honzek
Stenberg
Strbak
Pitre
Cataford
Stramel
Bonk
Allen
PRice
Simashev
Hameenaho
Kumpulainen
Sawchyn
Wahlberg
Landen
Gibson
Fortescue
Levis
Burns
Some of these guys might fall into the later rounds but I'd say probably all of these players are gone by the 4th or 5th round.
That weird guy from Recrutes I'd say was right that it's a good draft and a deep first round which means a "good" 2nd round but after that it seems to fall flat.
Wouldn't mind maybe some late birthday players like Forsell was or even a 19 or 20 year old if they are getting regular minutes in a men's pro league. |

That's a pretty good list.
I would be fine taking Dvorsky, Ritchie or Danielson if Reinbacher is gone. Assuming the pick is 8-11. |

It's a short list for sure.
I was hoping that the list would be updated at the end of the season from the bottom of the first page in this forum. I don't know if Danielson or Ritchie have moved up from the impact/regular range.
For example on Ritchie his closest comparables are Brendan Gaunce, Boone Jenner, Ryan O'Reilly, Radek Faska.
Ritchie was in the "Regular" category meaning basically his most comparable are more likely to be 200+ game 3lc than a top 6 player.
Danielson definitely has much steadier looking comparables. Schenn, Cozens, Dach, Reinhart, Geekie, Glass, Harkins, Krebs, Anderson-Dolan.
A little more boom or bust for Danielson.
From Bob's list beside the names though, you can see how they line up at the end of the "top 6" players in the next tier.
Only real difference between the 2 lists is pretty well Pellikka and Cristall are ranked lower by scouts. |
