Are you seeing a 90 point season for him next year?

90 point players would get 9 or 10 million in FA today.

Good signing. I feel like worse players have gotten better deals lately. |

No - unless Carlsson goes Batsheet crazy in C position as a 18 yr C... possible but not probable..
80 pts yes... 30 to 40 G + depending if he plays with McTavish or Leo and 40 to 50 assists...

I've heard the term was the sticking point in negotiations. I have no clue why GMPV is afraid of 8-year deals but I'm glad this is done. It sets the tone for the Zegras negotiation. |

Great deal for the Ducks. This deal looks even better in a few years as he reaches full potential. |

He turns 26 in a month. He is what he is, a 60-70 point player. |

This contract has the potential to be soooooooo bad. Terry was an AHLer until 2021, and then came out of nowhere to post numbers on an awful team with no other offensive weapons.
Two years from now this could be the worst contract in the league

Axl, I'd bet you don't watch the Ducks very much. Not that I blame you. But your comments are ignorant. |

Dude I don’t care about the Ducks, one way or the other. While you’re clearly a fan with some extreme pro-Ducks bias
It’s much more likely that you’re wearing rose-coloured glasses. Time will tell. But I could see Verbeek trading Terry + 1st round pick to Arizona in a few years for a bag of pucks |

In a flat cap world $7M might be a little steep, but the cap is going up $8-9M the next two years and probably more after that. In that world, $6.5-7.5 will be the going rate for a guy who will flirt with 30 goals and 60-70 points over an 82-game season and wear one of the 'A's on his sweater. 37 goals might be an outlier, but 25-30 is a reasonable expectation for at least the next 5 years (he was on a pace last year to score 27 in 82 games), and I think his numbers are more likely to go up rather than down the next couple years as the young guys in the middle and on the back line mature. The last year or two might be an overpay depending on when age starts to catch up with him, but that's true of most long-term deals.
Those of us who are masochistic enough to watch the Ducks 80 times a year know what Terry brings to the table. I'm happy with this deal. |
