I think drai might command a little more money than what Marner is asking for. |

Who are you all kidding!!? McD is from Toronto and as soon as his contract is up in Oil town he’s back east bringing a cup home!! Leafs and McD find a way to make it happen. |

Obviously TSN reads the Hotstove, as they just put out their blog on how Edmonton keeps the core together. |

He'll sign if Draisaitl signs. If Drai doesn't then we'll get the biggest trade package for Mcdavid and no Marner + Knies is not enough. |

If mcd AND drai get traded? Edmonton will be stacked from incoming talent, incoming draft picks and a great minor league pipeline just from two players.
Look what happened in Buffalo, the Eichel deal won the cup for the knights but put the Sabres in a relevant position for years to come.
Say thanks to Buffalo for taking Sam Reinhardt.(which I opposed).

Nope. No way, nada zippo he pulls on a leafs sweater. He wanted to go to Buffalo when he was drafted, the look on his face.
The leafs would have to gut the team for one marketing item.
I wonder would Buffalo rather have mcd & drai, or the team we have now?

If the team is a legitimate contender then they stay. As a Leafs fan I hope he comes to Toronto. |

Leaf fans sure seem to. They've been on their knees praying for him to sign there for years.

Probably not . Whatever Mathews makes Draisaitl will get as well, and then McD more than that. I can’t see it. just enjoy the next couple years and hope they bring us a Stanley. |

They won’t though. Edmonton is going for a Cup to Hell with the fallout.

I think the entire fanbase of every NHL team is interested in the availability or lack thereof of the best player in the world and his Jagr... |

The situation is Edmonton's to screw up and if they don't screw it up they should employ these two not just through their entire playing careers but into their post playing careers as well. Edmonton has been blessed with some of the greatest players to play the game, but none (yeah, that's right) better than these two. |

Seems a bit premature since McDavid is under contract for 3 more seasons and Draisaitl for 2 more years...

It all comes down to 30+ million for 2 players. Even if the cap goes up to 90ish million by the time their deals are up,.1/3 of your cap for the 2 of them hurts the depth going forward.
Max contract for McD is 20% of lets say 90 million cap, So that is 18 million x 8 years = 144 mil deal. Drai has to be in the 13 to 14 million x 8 range, another 110+ million contract.
Those are some big numbers.... |

Yes, Buffalo rebuilt with a young core so they could lose all those players and rebuild with a young core. |

They'll stay in the tundra long term only if they are crazy.
That being said, maybe Canadian McD stays, but I predict, in a "wild predictions" realm that Drai is a Red Wing in a few, with fellow German Moritz Seider playing a major role in convincing him. |
