No question he has a point. Many of us have been saying the same things for years. You cannot make minor type moves in the offseason when the team is not good enough. Other teams will be constantly improving.

That’s been the story of the isles for decades. Not a fan of Garth Snow by any stretch, but he did have the isles only real first line since the glory days. Even if it was a two month Vanek rental.

The Islanders have been failing during the offseason for years. A team like the Islanders has to put a lot in scouting and drafting well as they are not a prime UFA destination.

These are the two things that they (the Islanders) can put good money into from an organizational end. What have the guys below brought to this organization? What diamond in the rough?

Director of Pro Scouting, Ken Morrow (been w/ Isles since 1992); Head Amateur Scout, Vellu Kautonen (been w/ Isles since 2004); Director of Amateur Scouting, Trent Klatt (been w/ Isles since 2009)

Pro Scout
Eric Boulton, Bob Hoffmeyer, Steve Kariya

Scout
Jeremy Bachusz, Paul Carlow, Marek Hascak, Derrick Kemp, Greg Morrow,
Jeff Napierala, Gates Orlando, Juha Riihijarvi, Mario Saraceno,

I love what Kenny did for the Islanders, but you cannot have him and some of these other guys around this long. Lou should have cleaned house with the scouts.

I agree with you. If you dig deeper into some of these guys, they were also scout for the devils. Some of these scouts are long in the tooth and have not really produced anything of substance for this team.

They forgot to mention Head of player development Eric Cairns.

I think it’s time the isles got a new look regarding drafting and scouting. Kenny Morrow is a legend, but the isles first rounders over the last few decades has been awful.

If/when Lou decides to walk away or told to step away, I hope the new President/GM addresses the scouting

It has to be the #1 priority for a new GM. Even if the Islanders were better at signing UFA's, you cannot build a team with just UFA's when you have the Cap.

I think you need to hire a legitimate well respected President of hockey operations. The president should then hire a GM, as well as scouts.

Johnny Gaudreau and brother killed on their bicycles in NJ by drunk driver the day before their sisters wedding. Unreal. So tragic

Thoughts and prayers go out to the Gaudreau family. I am deeply saddened by this. It just shows how special life is. You can be doing all the right things, and it still may not matter.

Thank You John! Billy could skate, take faceoffs, and was great on the PK. 3-9-12 as a 4th liner in 18 post season games is also pretty darn impressive.

Well that’s a relief.

So. Duclair. What is a reasonable expectation for him in this system?

Dude has been so many places in so many scenarios, I just can’t figure out what we have in him.

The expectation would be for him to have chemistry with Barzal and Horvat. Make it more of a threat and add to pp. 25 goals would be nice.
