Well that’s a relief.

So. Duclair. What is a reasonable expectation for him in this system?

Dude has been so many places in so many scenarios, I just can’t figure out what we have in him.

- Wildschwein

Duclair is a shifty lefty with speed. I expect him to play PP1 as the lefty shot on the right side. Does he make the isles cup contenders, no, but the isles acquired talent without giving anything up in return. He should fit in well with Horvat and Barzal. I see 28 goals for #11

I just do not know why he has bounced around so much?

Yeah I guess that’s a legitimate concern, except he’s only here a few years. How I read the signing is a quick fix. Obviously not ideal as the team could use a new look from top down, but they had to do something. The 1LW spot was nowhere. I am a huge Nelson guy but he’s best as 2C, not 1LW.

Anything I can do to stop the pop ups on this site with my phone?? It’s worse than ever. Almost unusable

Two-year deal would have been better. 4 is better than 7 though.

I'm going to guess he comes in around 20-20-40pts

Download "Brave". It's a mobile browser like Safari or Chrome but it has a built-in ad blocker. I don't log on here from mobile almost ever, but I downloaded it and tested it out and it works.

So the consensus is between 20 to 30 goals.

Glad I’m not the only person unsure. 😂

Personally, I feel like 20 goals would be splendid. 25+ would be exceptional.

I wouldn't be surprised if he hits 25, especially if he gels with Barzal and Horvat

Pure speculation on Elliotte Friedman's part, and, if he's going to put it out there to the public at all, the least he can do is give a hint on where he "heard" it from if not the team, GM, agent, or player.

But if there's anything to it, that's...not great.

If Friedman is saying it, there's almost certainly some truth to it. The Isles have a luxury in Varlamov so it's not all doom and gloom, but it's most certainly a problem.

Yeah, not too big of a deal if "something" is a short-term injury that will fully heal. If it's a more chronic, lingering condition with a goalie just as his big contract kicks in, forgive me for having terrible flashbacks

But, that's why I dislike cryptic hints like this. It's better to just say nothing than to say so little and let our imaginations fill in the rest.

I'd rather see Sorokin miss the first month or two of the season to heal than try and play through it and be terrible because he's dealing with some nagging issue.

Kinda odd that he's hurt now though. Either this is some carryover that was so bad it's still lingering from last season or he hurt himself during the offseason. I'd almost prefer the latter over something more serious that hasn't healed all summer.

I don't like the cryptic hints either, but such is life as an Islander fan under Lamoriello. I have no doubt that if Friedman could track down the full story he'd report it, but things are clearly locked down tight around here

Maybe that’s why Kinkaid has been skating with some guys at Northwell?

It would not be the Islanders without some sort of cloak and dagger story coming out prior to the start of training camp. Thats another thing, why is the start of training camp always such a secret? All we can figure out is that it will start between today and September 22nd.

Thoughts? If you include this year, he is owed 28 million. 4 years left.

If the Islanders are all in this year. This could be a move that puts them over the top. However, if they make this move and they fail. It will be a re-build at the end of this season.

I am intrigued.

At that point we might as well just dress 20 centers every night and see what happens

Ehhh…

I’d rather not prolong the period of mediocrity, and Kadri likely does just that. Would much rather see the season play out, followed by a brief (hopefully) retool.

Ha-ha! No thanks. The best thing long term is the Islanders move Nelson and Palms and anyone else they can this year.

Schweinie that makes the most sense. But in the last 30 years, when have the Islanders done the sensible.
