Per Roy, Sorokin had offseason back surgery.
OK, well, that kinda sounds worse than just an "upper body issue"... |

Oh boy. Well maybe that explains his play last year at least. Regardless, Lou still seems to believe he'll be ready for opening night. Hope it fixed whatever the issue is and it's not a problem going forward. |

Probably obvious, but...

Duclair will start with Horvat and Barzal at camp, per Roy #Isles |

With Tsyplakov getting a chance with Nelson and Palms.
If these 2 lines gel they can be 2 very potent lines. |

Back issues requiring surgery are never a good thing imho. Hope it’s resolved and doesn’t become a reoccurring nagging issue.

Yup, agree all around.
Here's a little more info...looks like Roy wasn't supposed to say anything:

My buddy played with Martin in the Isles outing yesterday. He said Roy was cool as hell. It's his second year in a row doing it and the second year he said Barzal was the rudest as shole he's ever met |

That’s one of his biggest boons to this organization. He’s an anti Lou. - Wildschwein

I'm all for Barzal being a better person, but that attitude and confidence is great on the ice. Would not mind players like Pierre and Simon playing with some attitude and confidence. Islanders seem to like the vanilla and no edge type player.

SES... you probably picked the two most granola players on the team. I would have to disagree that the team is vanilla with no edge. They may not player like Darcy Tucker, but I would not say the team is like a butter knife.

I'm not looking for Darcy Tucker players. I'm looking for more players willing to take a hit to make a play. I'm also looking for more mentally tough players that will not fold under pressure and more players using their talents to the best of their abilities. |

That’s the plan…..hoping for the best. Duclair is gonna be a good fit imo.
Tsyplakov will be interesting. The Russians usually come with high end
skill. |

Are the islanders without a writer on hockeybuzz? Usually there’s some prospect write ups or something about a new player. Odd, no? |

Our blogger covers 5 different teams. He hasn't written a new blog for ANY of them during the month of September. My guess is that he is finding his high school courses more challenging than his middle school courses. |
