Top 10 picks still go bust about 30% of the time. Projecting future NHLers from prospects is never going to be precise. |

Hey Trevor! Good article! I can see those lines being tried. Hoping Pelts rebounds & makes a case to be in the lineup.
Curious, would you be onside about looking at acquiring Askarov? Imagine cutting him & Wolf loose between the pipes with the attitude you win you're in. We have some real interesting prospects in the pipeline that might tempt Trotz. I imagine they would want Coronato though. But having 2 young goalies of that pedigree sure would make for a pretty good building foundation going forward. |

If it meant Coronato absolutely no ! He needs every opportunity to show what he can do |

If Kuzmenko puts up points again, he should get a decent return at the TDL. |

Let’s get ahead of ourselves for a moment. Say he’s catalyzing the powerplay and is at around a point per game by February.. How much does he bring back in a trade? |

Sure he gets points. He's a UFA. I'd venture to guess he'd net a 2nd plus.

1st to a contender - Hockeyfan4life14
Yes. Because teams are willing to piss away 1sts for secondary scorers or defenders. Just see what Mangiapane, Tanev, or Zadorov trades brought in. Even the other big deals had to swallow some retention or take a contract back to get better returns. Kuzmenko is not netting a 1st unless he blows up. |

You can’t read can you ? It said if he’s running 1st pp and a point per game player , so yes a team that’s contenders will trade a late first rounder if they think he would put them over the top. It happens all the time |

Not a GM ever would not trade a late first that is 2-3-4 years away from playing in the league for a player they truly believe puts them over the top and wins them a cup that trade is made alll day long |

He’ll be in demand because of the expiring contract. Guys got an offensive flair. I’d say a 2nd easily possibly a 1st if he’s a 30+ goal scorer. |

He'll be a 29 year old, 3rd year NHL vet this season, averaging .78PPG. Unless he takes a step up I don't think he is worth a 1st. Is Ehlers, who has 7 more seasons be hind him and the same age , and averages close to the same PPG worth a 1st at this point? A 2nd + sure, but a first is a stretch. |

If he plays like he did in his rookie season they’ll get a first. He can change the dynamics of the powerplay, he actually made the Flames better in that department while the Canucks struggled once he left. Anything they get for him only tips the scale of the trade further in Calgarys favour. Conroy nailed that one. |

Where does Pelletier fit in this year?
Its been discussed by a lot of the other Flames media.
Does he get a shot in the top 6 coming out of camp? Or does he have to take a spot from someone?
Pelletier played small last year, but he is not much smaller than a guy like Marchand.
I hope they give him an opportunity to succeed.

I agree JP played small last year, he needs to come to camp prepared. Let’s hope he’s been putting in the extra training, or he could find himself as a throw in on a trade. Can’t send him down without clearing waivers, it’s all on him.
He’s no Marchand! I wish. |

I'll hate the team, but seldom the player/person. Phanuef is an extreme exception as he was a POS to no ends. Tkachuk got close but didn't get that far. I have had multiple occasions being around JH and don't have a negative thing to say about him, his lady or the company he kept. |
