Looks like Kolosov is serious about not wanting to play for the Flyers. The thing is there's nothing the Flyers can do if he would rather not play professional hockey than play for them.
Unlike with Fedotov, the KHL isn't willing to go the distance for him so that limits his options. |

You could have just posted a fact that he is not playing professionally this year. Everything else in your statement is insinuation. We absolutely do not know the reasons behind his decision. |

This was discussed in the last thread. Kolosov has no leverage. He can't play internationally, his old team has goalies, no KHL will fight for him. Flyers will hold his rights indefinitely.

I think the best thing for the Flyers to do is bury the Kolosov story, just retain his rights and let him sit in Russia. Its doing the Flyers no good to play this out at this point. In the end, Kolosov is probably not even that good and thus is not worth it. Just move up the timeline for all the other goalies in the system, if they are close to ready. |

I'm starting to wonder what else is going on here. On the surface it seems like a silly move on his part.

Carter Hart has reportedly been refused entry to the United States because of his sexual assault charges.
The affidavit says Hart is trying to move from Alberta to Tennessee to workout full time and has hired an immigration lawyer.
This seems odd, why Tennesee? Train with people associated with the Nashville Pradators perhaps? |

IMO this is what happens when the league lets players start to shun the teams that drafted them and dictate where and when they want to play. I would take this to a lockout if I had too, but IMO the league has got to shutdown this option for players in the next CBA. You play at least the ELC for the team that drafts you, if they even sign you to one, or you don't play, period. |

Oh Brother! A lockout over a few players not wanting to play for their drafted team? Something that has been happening forever. You don't seem to understand that the NHL is not a dictator that controls all hockey players as indentured servants and if they are drafted by the NHL, that is the only place they can play. You haven't thought this out very clearly.

Maybe, but what leverage does he have to dictate anything? He has a contract already. And who will trade for him? This isn't like Gauthier where he was still just a draft pick.
I do agree with your premise overall.

Sure. There's no history between the Flyers and Kolosov that would lead anyone to that conclusion.
Maybe he'll just oversleep and miss his plane, again. |

They hyped him up all last year. The President talked about him every chance he could. So I doubt they don’t think highly of him. |

My read on this is that this is not against the Flyers specifically. I just think he's not ready to play in NA

The thing is we really haven't heard anything one way or another. Just certain reporters saying "this is what Ive heard".
Kolosov isn't on any KHL roster and while yes, he is on an AHL salary when in Lehigh. From what Ive read the average KHL salary is like 425k. He stands to make much more money playing in the NHL even on a rookie deal. |

He would make much more on the back end by honoring his contract if he is as good as he thinks.
Keep in mind he was paid 900k last year by the Flyers. |

Yes, but the odds of him playing in the NHL this year are low. I just think it's a maturity situation and he's not ready to come over. I could certainly be wrong but that's my gut feeling. I don't think this is a spurn of the Flyers specifically.

Its not just a few players, this is beginning to happen more and more and if left unchecked, I'm concerned that the NHL will become the NBA. Its not about being a dictator, its about having rules that promote fairness. If a team sucks and drafts a top player, that team and its fanbase deserve guarantees that player will play for them, at least initially. |

I was primarily referring to the Gauthier or McGroaty situations, Russian players is a separate, but complicated issue. |

I don't know if he is good or not. However this apparent refusal to play in North America does raise alarm bells. All I am saying if I were the Flyers I would not push this any longer. Just say he is not coming and wants to stay home, and they will toll his contract for another year. And then focus on the goalies that are here. |

It is just a few players. Over 900 players played in the NHL last season. It's a few players. There are already ways to deal with this in the CBA. There can't be a guarantee where a player is held at gunpoint and forced to play.

Right, but he has turned his back on the Flyers, so therefore he's not any good, right? Same as you did with Gauthier. As for how the Flyers should handle it, you're right. That is exactly what they should do. It's why they brought in Makiniemi on PTO
