Well, I think it speaks to the numbers for Mo and Razor. It’s a one year deal and he took it. No clue what the conversation was and we’ll see how it plays out. |

He may have been promised to be on the team or traded to a team that will use him.....

Ya know, justice would be served if the Cat or Razor were traded for a RD and Berggren was used in the top 6. |

I don’t think putting JB in the top 6 is “justice”. Just opinion of course |

I’m fine with a trade, I don’t see him as a top 6 player right now. I don’t think he’s being “screwed”. It’s sports. He obviously wants another crack at the NHL and we have no idea what the conversations were like. I don’t know what their plans are but we know what he signed. |

JB got a lower deal, because SY needs the money to sign Seider and Raymond to long term deals. JB has only the leverage of his play to dictate his future options and salary. It’s feasible he could be traded, but that’s not going to happen if he performs like Evgeny Svechnikov. I’m betting JB will have a good year. I think the Wings are a better team than people are predicting to see. |

I hope the team does well, and want the best for all of these guys. Seider and Raymond made impacts at a young age and couldn’t have a better summer for negotiations. Whether it comes to pass or not, there’s a push from the league, writers and agents that the cap will hit up to 93m and up to 100m in the next couple of years. Agents negotiate on current and future cap% and comparables. It would be great to see revenues push the cap up, I think skepticism is warranted as the cap was flat for a long time and players have only had zero escrow twice since inception on the current CBA. JB is caught in that spot where two players are looking for paydays over 8m AAV and there are expensive deals that many comments indicate aren’t living up to expectation. It’s the perfect storm and JB had the shortest straw of the 3 RFAs left. |

Do you think Claude Lemieux wants to make things just a little bit hard for Yzerman, being Seider’s agent?

From what I can assess, Lemieux is pretty darn good. Stutzle just switched to his agency. There was an interesting line by Bob Kaser during intermission yesterday. He said that during his time with GR, Seider is the best prospect he saw. He put Edvinsson in the top 10. What I truly believe is that Lemieux wants to hear Raymond’s number before Seider signs anything. Mo may be considered the most important piece of the team. Im not saying that’s set in stone, but Claude seems a lot more savvy than I thought he would be. When you see the players from the old rivalry w/Colorado shaking hands, hanging out at signings etc I think they realize that those two teams made each other better and drew massive crowds with the contempt. It seems to melt away for most players, but Draper (at least as of a few years ago) is still not thrilled. The Roy and Osgood interview a few years ago was hilarious. I have “fight night” on DVD. I should pull that one out. Maybe do a streaming party? |

Apparently, the dominos are falling. Raymond signed an 8 x 8 deal today. |

Yikes. Lots of money for 1 good year. A lot of teams better hope the cap keeps growing. |

I hear what you're saying. But when you watch this kid night in and night out... there's no question about the pure talent this kid has. I'm not worried at this point. I'd rather get him locked up now long term and take that risk. I'm glad to have Kane back this year as well. |

JB or Kasper, Holl and a 2nd for Rasmus Andersson
It is too bad that the Wings have to give away good assets to rid themselves of a guy they gave too much money and term to and do not use! |

To be fair, he had 23 goals at 19 then slumped then broke 30. Never played in GR, was in Sweden during the lockout. His 3 years, especially with so few guys in Detroit starting at 19, have been impressive.
I’ll write about it a bit, but no bonuses. Larkin doesn’t have any either. An article 2 or so months ago talked about concern on a stand still after 25/26 during CBA negotiations. Something like 80% of contracts since February have bonus money. The reason I’m good with this is you get the full 8 years and it ends at 30. Those are (opinion) prime years in there. But, the details of some TV stuff/revenue hit and those NBA packages are causing some panic. Luckily NBC wants sports back and is willing to pay. |

I’m right there. I love how he skates and makes space. I was in the 7ish category for term but we saw numbers going up. Hoping this speeds up the last deal and Thursday is a full complement. If anyone is going to Traverse let me know. I can’t make it, and I’d love screen shots of some of the info they post on the tables. Mr. Mehrhoff was running the Zamboni for a long time and Russ Merhoff is a super fan and a guy you’ll likely meet. It’s like a family of volunteers there. |

Calgary is making people available. I think they want to coincide the rebuild with the new arena after the exodus. My hope for JB is to go Jiri Hudler. At one point he had one of the highest points per minutes played and forced his way up. We’re seeing some good kids coming and it would be nice to see vets pushed down the lineup because someone is just outplaying them. No more “tie goes to the veteran” crap. |

Looks like Berggren and Yzerman agreed on making Berggren as attractive a trade target as possible. |

I think it’s coming. It feels like Claude wanted to be absolutely sure that Mo’s deal was at the top of the ticket. Like those players who do rock-paper-scissors to be the last one off the ice. The one person who has had some info that I get to go back and forth with has said that line of communication has been wide open all summer. It may have to do with bonus $ as well, but most of you had Mo as the top dollar signing. |

I do understand the complexities of negotiating these deals. I know he is gonna sign, and I believe in letting the process play out. I've been a Wings fan since the 1960's growing up in Monroe. I am excited for the future of this team and I do see the cup returning sooner, rather than later. Just MHO, but the future is bright..!!! |
