I’m trying to be “blank slate” and let it play out, but seeing and hearing the undercurrent eventually wears on you. It’s not even an even split. The plus, season tix sold out. The minus feels like a looming let down. I just want to see them play, get a 10 game sample, 20 game sample and get some numbers and looks. The summer has been a long, long wait. |

It's definitely not the days of old the Wings landed some Hall of Fame type players deeper into the draft, every team seemingly does a great job of scouting the world for players.
Realistically the team is going to have to soak some guys, like they used to, to let them get better with experience in the AHL or European pro leagues. Danielson being one of those guys who's really talented but he's definitely not flashy.
Yzerman is one of the best in the business, I trust his process. |

I think you can expect more of the same, around that 90'ish point mark. |

There are ZERO teams thinking about claiming Husso on waivers and being stuck with a $4.75M cap hit. We just have to wait him out this year and then say good bye.
Rookies with high ceilings often stand out. Zetterberg did. Larkin did. Seider did. But guys like Danielson, Kasper, and Mazur are not that special. They likely have decent careers but this is not elite talent. |

He will carry 3 goalies, wait for an injury, and if one doesn’t happen, he’ll waive One… most likely Husso. |

I won’t argue the point, that’s quite likely the case on Husso. Hence I posted both scenarios. My surprise was Bultman having him as the first to hit the waiver wire if a position was grabbed. I said there are teams looking at goalies and that it would be a big get for the team if he got pulled. Then talked about a reality of him knocking one of GRs goalies off the roster. You may be completely right on the rookies. I don’t know what we’re going to see. I think Mazur knows where he’s headed in terms of a PK bottom 6. It feels like the club wants Danielson to be top 6 so if he can’t grab that spot it’s likely he’ll get reps in GR. Kasper, I don’t know where that’s going to land. Where Danielson stands out, for me personally, is his battling and working the puck. He overpasses and gives up scoring opportunities, again an opinion. Of the 3, Danielson seems most likely to make an impression but not likely enough to speed up his transition. You’ve been right on a lot of things. I try to throw that your way to keep it on the level. As always, I appreciate the drop in for sure. |

My assumption is that if a forward (PTO or rookie) takes a spot is that a forward hits 96 for a 3 hour tour. That’s why I was surprised to hear the assessment that Husso was first on Bultman’s list. To his credit, he did the grind of camp. There are fewer and fewer media making the trip. I have no ground to stand in terms of that, to be sure. I didn’t get to the camp and have to make my assumptions separated from the in person. I tend to agree and I wasn’t thrilled with the little I did see of Talbot. That’s camp. I’ve been to 6 of them and someone has a breakout that ends up not really carrying over. Ritola, Ian White, Eaves had a hat trick one year in the Red and White game and centered a line with Pav. I just want to see the team play some games. Nothing feels certain and it’s on this crew to write the season |

It’s fun to watch some of the drills, and in “my time” Holmstrom was still staying on the ice to do something like 100 tip ins. Pav had to be drug off the ice too. Then having onion rings and listening to Mark Howe in a small restaurant was just the absolute best. It is fun. If you like Dodge Vipers, head to Sugar Beach. There’s a Viper club that comes at the same time and these crazy painted and customized Vipers are roped off in the side lot. The most we ever saw was around 50. |

With the loss of 75 goals due some player departures along with little improvement defensively, I figure the final point total will be in the eighties. So obviously no playoffs this season. Again. |

Some of those goals will come back in Tarasenko, we’ll see what JB can put up, see if Kane can add to the 20 he put up last year. The blue line needs the goalie to bail them out. Lyon gave them chances that Husso wasn’t always able to. The goals against was atrocious as the goals for went up. It’s all on the table. I’ll put this one thought. Let’s watch the team. A lot of us have felt the steam go out with departures. Not much faith coming in terms of what is going to be seen. Air it out, vent it out, but it the end let’s see how the guys handle it. It could be a fun ride, or it could be a rough road. It’s 1 game at a time, 82 times. The fans got a nice boost last year and it sold tickets and brought smiles. I’d love to see people feel that way again. A fools hope, maybe. But hope nonetheless. |

"Hope" is not a strategy.
Watched Utah vs the Kings "B" team last night. They have a fast, counter-punching and play making team. But it took OT to win against an almost all AHL team. The goalies held their teams in the game. Nice to see all the enthusiasm in SLC. I hope the ex-Yotes have a good year! |

Based on his body of work, and subsequent success, over the past fourteen and a half years as a General Manager in the NHL. |

H2, I’ve always appreciated you. At what point did I say that “hope” was a strategy? Go back to the comment. My “hope” was in seeing fans enjoy watching the team. It’s been a crappy time in a long overdue rebuild with a year ahead of us that has had a summer of mainly malaise and pissed off fans. The best I can honestly say is that I don’t know what this team is going to look like. I think I’ve been pretty clear about that. |
