- Bill any internal talk about extending Torts for another 1 or 2 years?
- Do you get any sense they will waive ND? - hello it's me 2050
Why would they waive ND? Maybe Couturier can take on his role? |

Not at his role. He does not stink at all. Now if you want to play him more then 6-7 minutes a night..then I get it. |

he does stink. there is zero reason to play him.
it is beyond dumb to dress someone with the intention of only playing them 6 minutes. there is non benefit in that at all. |

torts luvs him sum nd -- can not disrespekt the veteran - it will tear the room apart and ruin the foundational culture of the team that is the gold standard of the NHL

Conversely, Deslauriers has averaged north of 10 minutes a game in each of the last four seasons before this one. In 2024-25, we can expect that trend to resume now that Michkov is in the fold.
In an interview with Philly Hockey Now earlier in the offseason, Briere raved about Deslauriers’ character and leadership and, drawing back to his own experiences as a player, explained how a player like Nick can give his teammates more confidence on the ice.
“You don’t have to worry about being taken advantage of on the ice because Nick is sitting on the bench, ready to jump on and protect you,” Briere said. “I know, as a player, I really appreciated those players.”

Why would you want a player in your lineup that you can only play 6 minutes a night?

So in a 60 minute game….you want to play all your W’s equal time? 15 minutes each? You see I think that is Dumb. If your top two W’s player 18-21 minutes each and maybe your 3rd W plays maybe 13 or 14 minutes a night that leaves your 4th line guy a 6-7 minutes…or at least it should. You don’t see a benefit in DLow…that’s fine …I do. And so does the coaching staff. |

Some just don’t see it. Is it as prevalent as it used to be ? No. But I still see the value….apparently our GM does as well….thank Christ.

well you and the coaches are 100% wrong. so tell me what benefit is there in playing ND?

not 1 player fears ND nor will ND prevent anything from ever happening on the ice. opposing players laugh at ND.
also ND is ready to jump in. well at that point the event would already have happened, no? |

How often do you want to play a 4th line player? at those type of minutes what tangible role do you see them playing? I think the Flyers have some smallish skilled players and having ND, serves a purpose….as stated above our GM agrees. |

he serves no purpose. he drags down every player. the gm is pushover puppet following the same flyers playbook. when he plays your shorthanded. i hope he does play a lot as it will be funny to watch.
GH can step up if need be.

Danny is just being nice without saying anything.
Teams are so intimidated by him that the score more goals with him on the ice. (GF/60 1.4 vs. GA/60 2.6 in 140 games for PHI)
Or maybe the arena maintenance people are happy to have job security fixing the dashers with how often his massive body crashes into the boards with a missed hit.

How does Torts love ND when he rarely used him at all for the last Month of last season? He played 1 game in the final 13 games.

I understand this to a point, but I just fail to see how ND squaring off with whatever goon is playing for the other team prevents the players who will be on the ice against Michkov from taking runs at him. Do you put ND out to take runs at McDavid?
It's a different game now. If I am the other team I am foaming at the mouth to have ND out there against my top players.
We saw what will ACTUALLY have to happen. It will be Couturier, Foerster, or whoever is on the ice at the same time that will be having to do the dirty work while ND cheers from the bench.

Your first comments sound more conspiracy theory than reality. I agree that with both Seeler and GH in the lineup that the need for DLow in the lineup is not as important against certain other lineups. Do I think DLow should be in the lineup 82 games ? No. To me dressing the proper lineup is all about trying to win games. As DB mentions above. |

no it is reality.
ND does not help you win games in any shape or form. he hurts your team as it leaves you shorthanded. teams want him in the lineup as they know the chance to score went up dramatically. |

no way. ND will prevent it all. they need ND. they want ND. things will break without ND.
flip side scenario is I want MM out there every time there is a Rempe or the like on the ice. |
