Weird to hear DB saying that Jett was "only OK" in the games but he somehow still managed to "blow them away from day 1".
I hope this isn't another Justin Williams type situation where the kid is thrown into the league out of necessity and then they lose patience with him after a few seasons of trying to develop him in the NHL. - Tomahawk
danny is a putz. takes his orders from torts.
what I wonder is was there a vote among the 3 stooges? or was it all the CO-GM/coach? |

Couple of their D are hurt….and Myers will start as the 7th guy….wouldn’t be surprised to see him get in few games….nice opportunity for him. - landros 2
played very well from all accounts. |

From the BTS clips they post on youtube it seems like Torts always has the last word in meetings. |

https://www.dhs.gov/news/2024/08/28/department-homeland-security-announces-380-million-additional-funding-communitiesThe
For original post this says otherwise. DHS out the money. Congress wanted to strip the omnibus bill of ssp funding.
Doesn’t matter who plays the money moving shell game. Illegal immigrants have zero cause for any taxpayer money. I don’t care if they use the CBP 1 app and apply for asylum. That app is subverting existing immigration law.
The fact is that the current administration is feckless in all aspects of government and cannot handle its primary obligations under the constitution let alone inventing powers it wants to have and control.
To be fair it may run better under Trump but the executive branch and bureaucracy needs to be greatly reduced of its power. - bird_dog_pa

Here's a hint to you. This is a HOCKEY website! You think Bill works hard every day to put out a blog, so you swinging d!cks can clog it up with your political rants? I doubt it! Thanks! Have a good day! - Phillywhiteout
To be fair, do you think I want to suffer through hearing about football or baseball on this here hockey site?
If I wanted that kind of talk I'd hang out at a laundromat.

The "3rd" line of Farabee-Luchanko-Brink seems like it might be a fun line to watch progress. Hopefully they are given a little bit of time to gel. |

Translation, Tortorella has overruled Briere and had his say. I agree with your overall premise. I would just ask where the necessity is.

That's funny cause if they did win it that way there would be posters on here complaining that it was total luck and that they didn't deserve to win the Cup cause they didn't do it the right way. Ya just know it! - Phillywhiteout
Haha probably.

I'm sure they love having him as a member of the GM club... especially Verbeek, Guerin, MacFarland and Blake.

It's either going to be a fun line or a line that is going to be taken advantage of at a high rate. Matchups will be key for that line.

If Torterella had the final say on the roster and I was DB I would resign. That’s BS and can’t see Briere being very respected around the league if he is not in charge of player personnel. |

Biggest guy on that line is 6'0 186.... I hope they can move the puck quickly and keep play away from the walls. |

Agreed. Hopefully they see a good amount of O-zone starts. Icings with that line on the ice could be catastrophic. At least early on in the season.

Torts wants to win games now and he also seems to anoint a new 200-ft teacher's pet every season. Was Cates, then Poehling last season... it sounds like Luchanko might be the golden boy for 24-25. |

I dont blame him as it is his job. he wants the playoffs badly as this could be his last year behind an nhl bench.
however, this just shows the lack of a real plan. shows how much of a putz danny is at the end of the day. |

Besides the normal traps that come with keeping such a young player on the roster, that is the biggest fear. Tortorella is the absolute worst coach for the development of a player like Luchanko.

Flyers aren't the only team with a strong owner, coach or POHO pushing the GM around.
Other GMs have been more than happy to leverage those situations to their advantage.
Flyers' ineptitude has been on a level of its own over the past 30-40 years tho... |

Isn’t that a little over dramatic. Lichenko will learn the how not to get benched system while actually getting caved in while in the Dzone. Losing board battles more often than not. Skate fast play below the circles in the d zone and Torterella will love him.
Don’t worry about scoring until 6-7 years in the league. |

You always seem to have all the stats; are the Flyers a small team? They seem small to me. Is there a player, outside the 4th line, that plays with an aggressive edge? Maybe TK, but he’s little guy. The Captain had a fight in the preseason. Is protecting Michkov his job this season? Tippett and Foerster have decent size, but are not really physical players. Farabee had a little edge to his game before his disc surgery. Not so much last season. |

I have political views that are typical of a Bernie-bro and that appelation does not offend ME.
What I've noticed is that the 'conservatives' seek permanency which will establish their 'rule of law', generated by a lot of crappy attorneys.
Then you see the shenanigans in the courts because they selected the judges.
The 'liberals' think that the future is malleable and can be made to take a better shape.
Then you see that the shape they are looking for is an amalgam of complete BS takes about the human condition.
As a secular agnostic, both of the 'extremes' claiming ownership over ME is a no-go.
I just wish they had the brains that they think they have. |

By this post anyway you have zero idea what a conservative is. I don’t really care what people do with their lives as long as they don’t force me to accept or oblige their dogma. That goes for religious zealots as well as the alphabet group totalitarians.1
What I expect from judges is that the law is followed for what it says. If laws are vaguely written and the determination of that law is subject to interpretation then that law should be sent back to whatever legislative body wrote it.
There is a mechanism to change the constitution. The problem is most of the current lot of politicians are too dumb to even attempt something of that magnitude.
That leads me back to the less government and less power of people would leave us better off.
I pray that Trump gets elected and in turn any executive powers get scaled back to what was intended by the framers.
Congress hasn’t passed a real budget in I don’t even know how long.
I blame the republicans for that. Pass a budget and if it gets vetoed or the senate won’t pass it then poopnit all down until a budget can be passed.
The problem is all the finger pointing and fear mongering starts.
Enough of politics in DC and more governance please.
