Well, we have two indoor cats that are the first priority. One is 15 and on meds. We have a feral colony that we tend to and that's about ten total with a couple of occasional stragglers. All of them have been TNVR'ed (trapped, neutered, vaxxed, and released). One of them is elderly. We are going to bring them all into a safe area we made for them in the garage.
I'm not gonna lie, I'm nervous about this one. We'll be watching the track carefully with clenched buttholes. Katrina was scary AF, but a last minute course nudge put us just outside the catastrophic damage zone. If Milton goes on the current track, it will make landfall about 30-40 miles south of here near Sarasota. If it does, we should be OK. Power might be out for days or weeks. Tampa as a whole will be (frank)ed by storm surge, but we are well outside that zone.
Today is calm, the weather will start to go south late overnight and into tomorrow morning. It won't get nasty and scary until overnight wednesday into thursday morning.
After the storm passes, cell towers will probably be knocked down, so I might go quiet for a little while, but I'll check in to continue annoying everyone if I'm still alive. - GalacticStone
Be safe.
I hope the worst thing you or your loved ones / property sustains as a result of this thing is a super smelly garage.
The thought of 12 cats pooping in a room almost made me stop eating my lunch.
Almost.
On a quasi-related note - all this talk of storm surges and hurricanes in your area makes me wonder if the Carolina team should switch names and post game win traditions with your 2nd favourite team (after the Leafs of course).

I'm not supposed to tell you non-goalies this but it was a directive from the goalie union.
- Cush29
It's going to take a top end goalie like Shesterkin going to UFA to truly re-set the value of goalies.
If he does ....some team is going to put 12.5M (minimum) on the table. He's just that valuable. |

Agreed - Swayman doesn't have nearly enough of a resume to be the guy setting the bar but Igor sure does.

I see a lot of people saying the, "That's a lot for a goalie!".
There are maybe four proven consistent NHL starters right now - Shesterkin, Sorokin, Hellebuyck and Saros. There are arguments for Swayman, Ullmark, Vasilevskiy and even Demko and Markstrom - but over the past four years, those four guys stand out. I'll give Ullmark his due props if he can do in Ottawa what he did in Boston.
You'll get those people who love to chirp, "And how many cups have they won?"
I've always felt it was a rather unfair question. Would Mats Sundin not have made most teams better? He never won a cup. Did the Leafs fail to win a cup because of Sundin or because of the depth around him? They were a solid team that needed a few more pieces. One piece that really drove a bunch of the later 90's and early 2000's before the lockout was a franchise defenseman or a goalie who made one unnecessary.
20 years later and the general feeling from people is that the goalie is the least necessary part of the team now, and yet Florida got where they did because of Bobrovsky elevating his game. I mean these are the best goaltending performances in the playoffs in the last 6 years (min. 15 games):
Shesterkin in 21-22 had a GSAx/60 of 1.18
Bobrovsky in 22-23 had a GSAx/60 of 1
Shesterkin in 23-24 had a GSAx/60 of 0.94
Hill in 22-23 had a GSAx/60 of 0.86
Vasilevskiy in 20-21 had a GSAx/60 of 0.75
Rask in 18-19 had a GSAx/60 of 0.5
Vasilevskiy in 19-20 had a GSAx/60 of 0.48
Khudobin in 19-20 had a GSAx/60 of 0.41
Vasilevskiy in 21-22 had a GSAx/60 of 0.41
Fleury in 20-21 had a GSAx/60 of 0.36
Bobrovsky in 23-24 had a GSAx/60 of 0.33
You have 4 cup winning performances and 2 of the best were Shesterkin - it's not his fault the Rangers didn't go further. - Monkeypunk
I would add Jake Oettinger to the list of bonafide starters in the league at this point and he has been really good in the playoffs too.

He has. If you don't filter down the number of games, Oettinger's 7 game performance in 21-22 was the best in recent memory (1.86 saves above expected per game). Shesterkin's 7 game performance in 22-23 was 2nd @ 1.37.
There are a lot of bonafide starters, but if I want guys who are repeatedly good year-over-year, these are the top starters (regular season), minimum of about 35 games (really it's filtered to Fenwick events of >1500) since 2020:
Shesterkin from 20-24 had a GSAx/60 of 0.45 (201 GP)
Sorokin from 20-24 had a GSAx/60 of 0.45 (192 GP)
Hellebuyck from 20-24 had a GSAx/60 of 0.44 (235 GP)
Stolarz from 20-24 had a GSAx/60 of 0.42 (82 GP)
Woll from 21-24 had a GSAx/60 of 0.41 (36 GP)
Ullmark from 20-24 had a GSAx/60 of 0.38 (151 GP)
Swayman from 20-24 had a GSAx/60 of 0.35 (132 GP)
Brossoit from 20-24 had a GSAx/60 of 0.35 (72 GP)
Saros from 20-24 had a GSAx/60 of 0.33 (231 GP)
Ingram from 21-24 had a GSAx/60 of 0.32 (80 GP)
Varlamov from 20-24 had a GSAx/60 of 0.31 (118 GP)
Hofer from 21-24 had a GSAx/60 of 0.3 (38 GP)
Andersen from 20-24 had a GSAx/60 of 0.29 (126 GP)
Vasilevskiy from 20-24 had a GSAx/60 of 0.26 (217 GP)
Smith from 20-22 had a GSAx/60 of 0.26 (60 GP)
Kochetkov from 21-24 had a GSAx/60 of 0.26 (69 GP)
Skinner from 20-24 had a GSAx/60 of 0.26 (123 GP)
Lindgren from 21-24 had a GSAx/60 of 0.25 (86 GP)
Lehner from 20-22 had a GSAx/60 of 0.25 (63 GP)
Demko from 20-24 had a GSAx/60 of 0.23 (182 GP)
Oettinger does sit just a bit outside the top-20 with a 0.12 in 193GP. But I would agree that when he's on, he is absolutely stellar.

As a fellow Cowboys fan I agree with this statement. I mean if we could kick our way to playoff wins we might be ok because good lord can Aubrey kick a field goal!
The only solace I will take is that at least Dak beat the Steelers on Sunday. My Father in Law is a die hard Steelers fan so the Dallas win prevented me from having to hear about how overpaid and crappy Dak is for the entire Thanksgiving weekend. lol

yes, its under forums. scroll down to the leafs
i made some bold predictions
The Leafs will finish: top 32
The main reason for this is: there are 32 teams
The biggest surprise will be: if they dont finish top 32
The biggest disappointment will be: finishing bottom 32

Yeah it was quite the finish. Part of me kept telling myself "Come on (frank)ing Dak, you're paid to make runs that wins games like this".
He actually did it.
As for Aubrey, going from the travesty that was Brad Maher to a guy that can kick a field goal from 55 yards away.... thank god he's here.

i watched all of that amazon hockey thing.
was fun to relive the stupid loss to the dumb Bruins.
other thoughts...its wild how razor thin the margins are between winning and losing and the huge narratives that get made up.
I already forget what series it was, but the goalie interference call that was a good goal is lol
Mcdavid seems like a good dude, a bit awkward and an introvert, look forward to him signing with the Leafs |

Yeah, it's fun. I hope they do it again.
I'm also enjoying the show "The Rebuild" On Crave about the Habs rebuild. NHL teams need to do more of that to market their players and the sport.
