I'm also enjoying the show "The Rebuild" On Crave about the Habs rebuild. NHL teams need to do more of that to market their players and the sport.

The ones they used to do yearly on the lead up to the Winter Classic were amazing, Liv Schreiber used to to the narrative for them. That fell by the way side when the NHL decided to completely water down the Winter Classic by having way too many "Stadium Series" outdoor games.

Being at the Big House in Ann Arbour for the Leafs/Wings outdoor Winter Classic was such an amazing experience.

The Centennial Classic at BMO stadium was also mega cool.

Sincere answer? I don't know. Neither do you. Some guys seem like it - Domi, McCabe, Benoit. Some guys don't - Marner, Tavares, Matthews . .

The new guys Tanev, Pacioretty, Ekman_Larsson, Lorentz . . .I think I have a general feel for them, but I don't know.

The other thing? Attitudes shift with the influence of leadership. Treliving was a start, but he doesn't have that fiesty attitude. Berube will carry a very different tone to the team and losing will very likely be unpleasant. I'd bet there's a bunch of guys out there that are wired this way, but I'd bet there are more players that hate losing because they have or have had coaches that hate losing.

We won't know until we know. The season starts in earnest tomorrow. Go Leafs Go.

Well, we have two indoor cats that are the first priority. One is 15 and on meds. We have a feral colony that we tend to and that's about ten total with a couple of occasional stragglers. All of them have been TNVR'ed (trapped, neutered, vaxxed, and released). One of them is elderly. We are going to bring them all into a safe area we made for them in the garage.

I'm not gonna lie, I'm nervous about this one. We'll be watching the track carefully with clenched buttholes. Katrina was scary AF, but a last minute course nudge put us just outside the catastrophic damage zone. If Milton goes on the current track, it will make landfall about 30-40 miles south of here near Sarasota. If it does, we should be OK. Power might be out for days or weeks. Tampa as a whole will be (frank)ed by storm surge, but we are well outside that zone.

Today is calm, the weather will start to go south late overnight and into tomorrow morning. It won't get nasty and scary until overnight wednesday into thursday morning.

After the storm passes, cell towers will probably be knocked down, so I might go quiet for a little while, but I'll check in to continue annoying everyone if I'm still alive.

Coaches like that should serve as a filter for players that don't have the guts or the balls to do what it takes to win.

If a player can't "live" or "survive" under that coach, it's an indication to move on from the player and find somebody who has that burning desire required to win a championship as difficult to achieve as the Stanley Cup.

Ideal path would be, Boston wins the Atlantic. Leafs (2) vs. Tampa Bay (3) 1st round. Boston (1) gets Florida (WC). Florida knocks out Boston, Leafs knock out Tampa Bay. Florida after two very long seasons, run out of gas vs. the Leafs. Then the Leafs get a softer match-up like the Rangers and avoid the Devils because Leafs Law says if they play vs. Keefe (or any former Leaf), they lose.

As opposed to, Leafs (1) vs Florida (WC), then vs Boston (2) then vs. New Jersey which would probably be the hardest possible, anti-Leafs path to take.

Woll missing time is to be expected given his injury history so don't be surprised if it happens again. As unlucky as he was to be injured, he may have been lucky to stand on his head when he was healthy. At this point, he's an unknown to us until we see what he can do after playing a full season.

Even with everybody healthy, the margins of error are so slim that it will probably boil down to coaching. The Leafs always seem to have the better team on paper but teams like the Bruins play their style better on the ice. If the Leafs create a style of play that is consistent and repeatable, their playoff success will improve immediately.
