Wow just wow. No chance the Islanders come in last. This whole order is pathetic.

I mean, as any Devils fan I hate the Isles, but to have them dead last in the rankings seems ridiculous.

Devils poised to be a power house.

In the regular season and then bow out of the playoffs in round 1.

They now have the coach for it.

Sergei Bobrovsky signed 7 years @10M starting July 1, 2019

2019-2020: /81.5M cap ceiling = 12.7%
2020-2021: /81.5M cap ceiling = 12.7%
2021-2022: /81.5M cap ceiling = 12.7%
2022-2023: /82.5M cap ceiling = 12.1%
2023-2024: /83.5M cap ceiling = 12.0%
2024-2025: /88.0M cap ceiling = 11.4%
2025-2026: /92.0M cap ceiling = 10.9%

If Igor Shesterkin signs 8 years @11.75M starting July 1, 2025

2025-2026: /92.0M cap ceiling = 12.8%
2026-2027: /96.5M cap ceiling = 12.2%

It's also worth noting that Bob was 31 when his new contract started. Shesterkin will be 29.5 when he is set to be a UFA. On top of that his games played are only 213 (maybe about 260) - Bob had 374 of mileage.

This will be an exciting division this year! I am excited about the Devils being so high, I have been bullish on them for a couple the past 5 years I like their trajectory and they keep getting better.

possess a lot of hard-working players, but again this is a team that scores mostly dirty goals.

No they do not score mostly dirty goals. This current Flyers team actually does not score enough dirty goals and their net front is almost entirely nonexistent. Conversely, the Flyers scored a ton of their goals off the rush last year. They made major adjustments to their breakout last offseason. Torts has said this on multiple occasions since the end of last year. Ek, you should know this. Also the Isles are much too low and the Caps are much too high.

This is much more realistic than what the writer of the article predicts. No way the Isles come in dead last.

The last playoff spot in the metro had 3 teams within 4 pts and was decided on the final day of the season (or close to it). 4 teams were within 7 points.

You can def say the devils will improve dramatically this year, but I don't see who really improved all that much amongst the other 4 teams and anyone of them could step up and lead that group. Its a crap shoot amongst the Isles, Pens, Caps and Flyers. I don't see any of those teams with an advantage over another.

Capitals were extremely lucky last season to even make the playoffs. I think they're a better team this year and could still miss.
