Last season in the early going was the time for that trade. I think our best case is going to bad a bad contract for bad contract trade. I think they will alternate starts waiting for Ned to get healthy.
I don't wish for anyone to get injured but an ideal scenario would be a Skinner injury in Edmonton and a Jarry for Kane trade. He is fine as a goaltender but there is a very clear personality issue with him and his teammates. - MacPatty
I read a good article that was all about this. Specifically regarding the incident between Petts and Jarry in Dallas last year. Could all be lip service but Sid, Letang, Petts, Geno, I think one or two more guys all said it was the media twisting things and there is no issue, they all love him blah blah blah

I did not watch the game. It was good to see Drew (back to superstar status) have a bounce back game. Believe it or not, Graves did also. His metrics, be it Natural Stat Trick or the one used in the blog, were good. Better than most of the other d-men.
Goaltending, at this point, should be rated as a tie. I would go with Blomqvist next game. Let's see what he does against Toronto. |

I had to re-read to grok why Lemieux wasn't on that list. *Only* 915 career games but still over unadjusted 1000 assists.
Backstrom is surprisingly even with Malkin on that stat. Playing with Ovi doesn't hurt, but he still made the passes.

I’m good with rewarding Beau for a good performance against the wings by keeping him on the top line. I don’t think I agree that it should come at the expense of McGroarty. He’s on an upward trajectory and I don’t think scratching him right now is good for his development |

Totally agree. When I look at the rest of lineup who else would you scratch? I might scratch Hayes even though he scored last game....but he's a vet that scored, can take faceoffs and Sullivan is in charge.
Bloom getting the start is a tiny bit surprising from Sullivan, though. |

Pulj is who I thought would come out, but he's playing pretty well himself. If McGroarty was going below line three, it makes sense to just send him to the AHL and get big minutes. He can be back when they need a top nine wing.
Glad to get Rust back though! |

Between Jarry getting benched for large parts of the second half of the season last year and now game 3, Sully feels better going with the young kid who is our #3 goalie is pretty telling on what he thinks about Jarry. |

True. I could write it off as the kid earned another game before he goes down if this happened in the middle of the year and Jarry came off a decent game. But not going back to Jarry after a disasterous first start is already saying he isn't your guy. |

Neither DOC or Hayes need developmental reps. I would have scratched Hayes and played DOC on the 4th line to give Beauvillier his reward or an extended 1st line look
But you’re right. It’s a tough situation since Beavillier, DOC, and Hayes all had good games. No one really deserves a scratch. Maybe scratch Glass and move Hayes to 4C |

Yeah... If those rumors are true, Sullivan didn't like Jarry's "whatever" attitude after getting benched. Ned was completely mediocre, but Sullivan kept starting him. If I remember correctly, Sully kept using Ned even when it was obvious he needed a break.

Obviously I’m not in the room but there’s a fine line there. Like obviously the goalies need to be competitive but you also don’t want your benched goalie to be angry to the point he’s being a bad team mate and a wienerhead to his backup. I’d be shocked if Jarry just didn’t care he was benched |

Good game. Mgroarty needs AHL time. Lizotte healthy would give the 3rd line another NHL caliber player. It was a battle of the top 6 though and the leafs can simply score goals. |

Agree on McG. It seems like everyone else in Pens land is watching a different game than me saying he’s been good. |

Didn’t see the game tonight but his first two games were good. Probably should be sent down if the only spot you can open up for him is his off wing. Just don’t put him into the press box purgatory |

Bloom played well. A terrible line change and over skate, and a bad bounce lead to a few goals. Overall I felt he played well. |

Good how? Without quoting fancy stats. He hasn’t stood out as bad, seems to me like he’s more so treading water than anything. AHL time for a 20 year old isn’t a bad thing. |

I watched the whole game. Dont have a whole lot of issues with the Pens last night besides a few gaffes that ended up in their own net. They did kind of lose their cohesiveness a bit after coughing up the second one but looked really good the first period... Maybe PP could do better than 25% haha.. if so they probably get at least a point. The PP has looked pretty good overall though.
I thought Pools stood out more in good ways first two games than McG. Agree McG should maybe go down and get 1st line/1st PP time for a bit. He hasn't been bad, or hurt the on ice product but he also hasn't really stood out in good ways either. To my eyes it's been somewhat vanilla so far. |

He’s been pretty effective on the offensive cycle. Really good passing and getting to the right spots on the ice at the right time. Again, I didn’t watch the game last night, maybe he sucked.
I’m not arguing your point. Sending him down is fine and highly preferable to playing off wing or being scratched. I would rather he play 3LW in the NHL than be sent down but it’s not that big of a deal with how the rest of the wings are currently playing. Like I said, don’t think any of the LWs have earned a scratch and with Rust back someone has to sit. |

Yeah, overall JB was good. Can't fault him on the 3-on-0 (how does that even happen in an NHL game?). I thought on the 3rd goal he was a bit off his angle, but he also made a lot of really good saves that more than made up for that one. He was at least NHL-average in that game, which is quite good for a young rookie tender in that environment. |
