Really weird how this team only wins when it's outshot by a 2-1 margin or more. Lyon is the MVP of this team right now no question. But this is not a formula for success. LaLonde better find a way to get this team's offense going or it's going to be a long season and no playoffs. Glad they got the win, but things better change fast.

Trading to fix the D will be extremely costly to a cap-strapped team that is looking for what every other team is looking for, and that is a defensive minded RD. This should have been addressed this summer. Y tried to address it if the Trouba rumors are true, which I think they are.

There are one or two other rumors still floating. I forgot to add, for anyone who is a praying person, Perron and his wife are having a really difficult medical time. They talked about it on the broadcast a bit.

For the D, if a coaching change comes it may help at least get some structure. Really would like to see some more confidence from the players. Just glad they got Lyon in net early on right now

Check out this Walman video from last night at the game… that’s my son Logan that is wearing his jersey, and Walman sees him in the game, tapped the glass in the warmup, then He ended up signing the jersey! The Sharks team site did a short video of it on twitter. I was so touched!

History may repeat itself, meaning Lyon will have a mid-season crash instead of a late season crash if his usage goes up!

Listen, say what ypu (generic term, not YOU specifically, NC), but Walman-Mo Sides was a solid enough D pairing. Walman bought us time, was a decent offensive guy. Not an ideal D-Dude, but that move sending him to the Sharks makes my head hurt.

He was and is a classy guy. That's a VERY happy dad moment, NC!!

Wings would have done better playing Walman on the 2nd PP and in a 3rd pairing RD then signing Gus! He plays 1st PP in SJ.

I’ll go back to this. Last year was his most games played in the NHL by 3X. Go to his page. He played 15 games for Florida, then 44 games for Detroit and pulled them out of the fire. His second most played was 11 with seasons of 2 games played and 6 games played. Right now, he’s the best goalie on the roster when he was brought in as the #3 guy. His pay is sub 1 million. This is a goalie that will probably get “tandem” status on his next deal and be counted on for 35-40 games after a career backing up or going to the AHL. He’s impressed me to the nth degree with what he did for this team last year and some of the saves last night were unreal.

Watched the game on my phonr from my hotel room....can we talk about black-outs??? Nah, I, don't wanna....none of it makes sense to me. At all.

Eddy's is a really good D-Dude. I watched him skate, especially. We've all spoken about how smooth he is for a big guy, he's smooooooth. But watch how he transitions while skating; quick moves in a different direction, squares up when skating backwards quicker than Mo, and has insane balance when stick-blocking a passing lane. His vision translates to his skates SO fast, it's like his feet are hard-wired to his eyes. He's got some great tools, gonna be special. He and Mo are a very formidable pairing.

Still seeing some team D lapses that we all see & saw last year...not anticipating, slow toreact, out of position, etc.... butit didn't seem as bad last night. SOG is embarrassing. How the heck can they think/act like they can live thatway, gonna end badly.

Lyon looked SO good. Read an article on THN or Octopus Thrower about the Husso experiment. Believe there's a year left on his contract, gonna hurt....bury it, hope to trade him, something. How much juice do we think we'll get from him? I don't think Lyon's perfect but Talbot/Lyon may be serviceable for a bit. But, we're hurting in net. Cossa's not coming up to stay next year, I don't think. So extend Lyon for 2, let him work w/Cossa in 25 to help him transition? I dunno, just spit-ballin'.

PP is like swimming in maple syrup in January. Something needs to change. Gus? Wholy crap! WTH is going on with him? He's killin' us. He needs a week or 2 w/Kronner or Lids....Holl's been a really reliable guy. Many issues, but what a great change!

This win was SOLELY on Lyon. He played out of his mind. I was watching his head movement as best I could; he seemed to see the puck move before it moved. Was pretty impressive. Imagine he & Cossa for a couple of years....if he's on, he steals games.

Good game. Lucky win. D looks a bit more organized, but needs some serious help. The guys seem like they're adjusting to each other....feels like they're getting into a routine. Wins are SO close. Consistency will help. Kasper? Ole Boy is staying. Waive Motte or someone. This kid has it.

Gonna be a good year, but we need some serious eork to be SCPO contenders for real vs playing for our live in Game 82. I still believe in this team and what we have in the "A"....

The good news is that Husso is done after this year. Talbot has one more and Lyon expires after this year as well. https://puckpedia.com/team/detroit-red-wings

Of all the “stuff” and guesses, it was a painful departure. I guess Walman has admitted to getting a bit misty eyed about it.

Thank you, really to all you guys. It’s hard having your son live with a billet family 800 miles away, but this absolutely was magic.

And I’d kill for that hair

Most likely what we'll see for tonight's game per Khan:

#RedWings practice before hosting Devils tomorrow (7, ⁦FanDuel):

DeBrincat-Larkin-Raymond
Tarasenko-Compher-Kane
Rasmussen-Copp-Fischer
Veleno-Kasper-Berggren
Motte (upper body injury) out.

Edvinsson-Seider
Chiarot-Petry
Gustafsson-Holl
Maatta-Johansson
Lyon/Talbot.

My hope is that Kasper will eventually bump up to the 2nd line center and push Compher and Copp down a line. This team is starved for top tier talent at the center position. Really need Kasper and Danielson to turn into elite centers eventually for deep playoff runs. There aren't any shortcuts since this team is right up against the cap. Hoping we can keep Husso in GR all season.

I've been kinda sitting on this, mulling it over, trying to see the logic......here's what I think (I know, I know, I know...."DON'T think, Mike" ):

This is is transitional. We're going to see the kids playing by the end of the year. We already know Kapser & Eddy are locks. Johansson's shown some flashes of brilliance, play him & sit Gus - at least Albert will stay outta the sin-bin and plays defensively. He's going to be a solid 2/3 paring, at least. I don't think he's as good as Eddy, but he'll be a good one. ASP & MBN will start next season in GRG, be up by the end of the season, MBN stays while ASP gets a bit more time to learn to be a NA defender.

Mazur's going to shock folks even more than expected. Berggren's been solid and is growing in capability (I've watched him get more and more physical deep in the O-zone as a routine vs as an exception....). Lombardi was flashy in pre-season, probably 2yrs out, Hanas is going to be a physical guy being called up but would only be a bottom 6 guy and fits that mold to a Tee. Soderblom & Rhychlovsky (sp?) are the ones who are kinda at an inflection point - they're either going to make it with a splash or take a few more years to be bottom 6 at best. Although, Rhcychlovsky could suprise - kid's got some speed, just needs to learn the game.

The whole thing comes back to beign a transition year. There are several contracts falling off the books in '25, that means SOME roster spots opening. But you can't expect to throw 3-4 kids on the ice & win; they need some NHL-level experience (some exceptions to this, of course - Kasper, MBN....both can thrive without too much time). We still need some ripe defenders; ASP & Wally will be up in time, ASP seems to have the better pedigree, but Wally seems like a better mix of offensive support & defensive reliability vs strictly O or D. Tuimisto, Buium, Wally, and Viro have a chance to come up soon....not within a year (maybe an exception for Wally?), but they may be solid round-outs. We need a solid 2d pairing.

It's going to be interesting, lots of $$$ fall off the books next year, several slots open up, lots of names will be mentioned.....I just see this as a year of transition to getting the kids more ice time and coming to the Big Club, soon.
