You’d have to be an idiot to think cutters slow start will be an indication he won’t be a good player in the future.

Flyers fans have to try to justify a horrific trade.

No Bill, no game day previews anymore. Disappointing.

Bills blogs had fallen off a cliff the past year or two since he was more involved with the actual team

I don’t think it’s out of the question Drysdale is no longer on the team by the end of his contract. Especially if Torts is still here

Which is funny since Torts pushed/wanted JD.

Ek, this should be another rebuilding year for the Flyers, and thus part of this season has to be about putting players into position to succeed and evaluating if they are part of the future. To that end, Fedotov has got to play. The Flyers have committed two years and a higher than expected AAV for this player, he needs to play every 4th game and see what happens. Likewise, Kolosov has to play a full AHL season as "the guy" and see how he performs. Andrae needs to stay with the Flyers and continue to put into key situations as the season goes along. And so forth with other players. I know Torts wants to win every game, and a good coach should, but Danny Briere needs to start trading players he knows are not going to be here when the Flyers are good again, players like Risto, Laughton, Frost and maybe Farabee, waive Deslauriers and let the kids play out the season. Currently Tankathon projects the Flyers will have 3 picks between 10-20 in the 1st round which, especially with the updated projections in this draft, will not move the needle and instead will keep the Flyers in purgatory for years to come. Briere needs to be bold now to really push this rebuild forward IMO. Its not about Torts; he will play the players he is given. Its about Briere stepping up now.

Quitter has the skating ability and shot to be a good winger in this league, but not a great one. He can't generate on his own and is very one dimensional. If he is playing with good players around him, he will be effective.

The other thing to recognize about Fedotov is that he started playing better, not in Tampa but at the end of the Washington Game. He shut out the Caps in the second half and started making big saves to give the Flyers a chance to come back. Not a big deal but worth noting. Glad he is playing better.

I don't understand stuff sometimes. You are a blogger, but do you make any effort to be accurate? You wrote the guy's name THREE times, and spelled it differently each time - and NONE OF THEM WERE CORRECT?!? His name is FEDOTOV!

And as for Hextall, what made you say he was starting off "VERY much not looking like an NHL goalie"?!? I was at his first NHL game. He gave up a goal to Jari Kurri on the first shot he faced, then shut out the Oilers the rest of the game, and the Flyers won 2-1. During the game Gretzky came up to him and said, "Who the h*ll are you?!?" Hexy responded, "Who the h*ll are YOU?" It was hilarious. Hextall went on to win the Vezina in his rookie year, as well as the Conn Smythe. What about that makes him look VERY much not like an NHL goalie???

I think Ek is just trolling us with all the typos. It's actually kind of a funny trademark at this point.

They are not going to trade some of the players you mention because the coach does not want to trade them. They have a 3 headed monster. All about collaboration. That set up is doomed to fail.

You’d have to be an idiot to believe anyone said this. Not only was he going to eventually score sooner or later, I predicted he would last night before he did. The problem is the offseason hype Gauthier had even above Michkov this past summer. As a Flyers fan, I hope he has a poop career.

The story I heard was, the deal was on the table for awhile because Briere and Jones were interested but Drysdale got hurt. They only asked Torts opinion if he believed his defensive game could be improved. I don’t think it’s crazy to consult with a coach to see who could work in his system and who might not.

briere said they didn't go with buium because they had york, drysdale and andrae. and folks laughed. now andrae seems to be looking pretty good. small sample size but maybe they know their players a little bit better than we do.

same goes for why attard (and to a lesser extent, ginning) didn't play much here. just because we didn't see what we had in them at the NHL level doesn't mean the flyers staff didn't have a good idea based on watching them with LHV, at practice, training, etc. every day.

Ginning looked pretty good last season. Brutal camp this season. Attard always looked like the same player not cutting it every time he played. Maybe Edmonton fix him, who knows.

The other rumors I heard were Briere offered Gauthier to COL for Byram- COL said no. Also, Gauthier to MTL for #5 overall-MTL said no. Certainly conceivable the ANA deal was the best.

i'm nowhere close to giving up on this kid. he's got a long leash with me. the same way folks drool over "frost battling through adversity" due to injuries early.

The Flyers knew two things about Andrae, jack and poop. And jacks left town. He only played due to injury and they had no choice but to give him a long look. Same as always.

on another note, while I appreciate Fedotov's resolve and willingness to learn and adapt to the NHL... he needs to stay in the net and learn some of the rules lol he started going to the bench on a delayed penalty against the flyers and some errant icing call-offs to the defensemen...

i just hope kolosov remains patient

People see what they want. As you said if not for injuries he is still toiling for the Phantoms.

This isn’t some Briere is a genius move.
