Congrats to Sid on an incredible milestone. As someone who watched the Lemieux era pass the torch to the Crosby Era…. I think it would be great to watch the Crosby era pass the torch to the Gavin McKenna era.

Just a thought, would Pittsburgh ever consider the following:

TO WPG: Sidney Crosby

TO PITT: 2 first round picks, Ville Heinola, and Alex Iafallo (for contract reasons)

If Winnipeg wins the cup, Crosby stays for one more season, if not they trade Crosby back to Pittsburgh in the offseason for a second round pick.

You just have to embrace the suck at this point. It's how the Penguins won their five Stanley Cups. They sucked and got the greatest player in NHL history at 1st overall, Mario Lemieux, and then they sucked and got MAF, Malkin & Crosby.

Agree with RW on stapling Geno to Sid. Let them get milestones together. Trade away everyone else that blocks a kid. Pickering on 3LD. Gruden, broz, and imama on the 3rd/4th line. Ponaromav and eventually koivunen and mcgroats on a scoring line.

No. Even Sid wouldn’t be worth what it would take to trade him.

I dont think your value is off, though its hard to value a guy like Crosby, I would just have a hard time beliving Crosby would want to go play in Canada just because of the attention he'd get.

I think if he goes anywhere, its Colorado or a southern US team like Dallas would he could compete, but his attention would be limited compared to a Canadian market.

Personally, I'd much rather have this happen and get a good pick than spend the next 2-3 years in limbo where we never get a good pick.

Right now you do whatever it takes to stack picks for this year and next. Rust, Bunting, Pettersson, Acciari, Pettersson, Karlsson, Rakell, etc…I’m sure money has to be retained on someone like Karlsson, but it’s time to make room for the youth and see what you have. Maybe you get lucky and make a run with Sid at the age of 40

I think if we get a top 5 (preferably #1 pick) two years in a row. The hope would be that those 2 players (plus some of our other picks) can help set up a possible playoff run for Sids potentially final year.

I think at this point the loyalty needs to go to Sid and Malkin. I would ship off Letang

I wouldn't bet your house on that. If things get ugly, which is looking like a possibility, playing for a true contender could be really interesting for an aging superstar. Not going to get any more bites at the apple here.

I can just hear the howling and rage and comments about "Bettman's Penguins" from the Metro Division teams' fans when the Pens win the 2025 draft lottery .

This isn't the year to save the draft cheat card. Hagens will be a really good player but it's Bedard } Celebrini } Hagens.

The #2 pick looks nice with Martone. Not super dynamic but does a really nice job using his huge frame. Reminds me a bit of Draisaitl where it might take him some time to get NHL ready but the tools are there.
