Agree. Definitely miss the top line. Good look at some of the “grinders” and good to see Mo blocking shots, even in pre season. After seeing 2 guys go down with broken knee caps that is a fearless task, even playing AHLers. Tomorrow night could be fun if they’re sending the top line. Fun to watch a game, I’ll admit. Forgot how much I miss it.

Despite his 45 goals in his last season in the OHL, i think Lombardi is a player that thinks playmaking first. Might take some time for him to gain confidence in his scoring ability in the pros.

He got Kal’s attention a few times. Strong skater. I think top line deployment in GR may be a good start with a high slot on the call up list. Get him a lot of reps and top tier ice time along with Danielson and likely Kasper and/or Mazur. Liked watching him play. Danielson struggled, similar to AHL playoffs. So far Kasper and Mazur have been my favorite rookies to watch

The Chicago crew really liked him. Very noticeable. If a rookie gets the nod, I think it will be between he and Mazur at this point. Still several pre season games to go and some PTO guys. We’ll see how it shakes out but I did like watching his first game.
