Nice title! He certainly brought home the bacon tonight! Was not crazy about him being signed, but games like this would make me a big fan!
Wings can't allow this many shots, they really have to get a defensive scheme! Glad Gus and Petry sat, Holl was good, as well as Albert.
Not a good team game, but a good win.

I was in shock. At least 4 or 5 point blank stops. I’ll give Mo and the D some props. Seider’s “kick save” and an earlier clear on a rebound were big. Eddy freaks me out with how he can join the rush. A guy that big skating that well. Holl looked solid. Definitely can’t allow that kind of traffic, but saw some promising things. I’m eating crow on Talbot, Compher, Copp and Holl tonight. It’s not bad if you get the potatoes with it.

I wouldn't expect that kind of performance every night from Talbot, but it was a welcome sight for a team that needed something to feel good about.

Do we go with Talbot or start Lyon in NY. I would go with Lyon and let he and Cam go for as long as they can.

It wouldn’t be realistic, but was definitely a welcome sight

I’d be fine with that. No clue what the rotation plan is. Shesterkin had a rough go last night but the blue shirts nearly outscored those woes. Whoever is in net will have to be sharp

Johansson is showing he's very likely going to be a solid NHL defenseman. As I've said before this kid has the tools in his speed / fluid skating, his first outlet pass and his reliable positioning. He's only going to get better. Hakan Andersson was right in getting Yzerman to draft this kid. I like the fact he can play both sides. Don't expect him to be flashy or put up a ton of points.. but i'm pretty optimistic he will be a reliable, steady defenseman who will help keep the GA down this season. LaLonde would be stupid not to give this kid more ice time to develop his game.

With Fischer out / hurt... bring up Kasper. Need to find out who's he's got some chemistry with. Let the kid's play now and get a chance to take a vet's job.

Had to watch the game late, was doing some work with my daughter in her apartment….so until 2am, I was caught in rapt attention to this. Was nice to be able to re-wind & go through plays when something interesting happened.

Johansson’s projected ceiling was supposed to be a middling defender. Was great to see his Family there, and he had a solid 1st game. He seemed to sense the puck path at times, at times he looked like a Juniors kid. Way too early to say what he may do, but I’m ok with him.

Ok, who was wearing #3? Seriously. That wasn’t Holl. Not according to what we’ve seen over the past few years. That was a good game. Fingers crossed….

There was consistent defensive activity from the guys. This shows that it CAN be done…. This first stretch of games is going to be crucial, playing against some loaded teams. We’ve got to play better; 1 point. Kane was defensive; 1 point. Berggren played the body and dug out pucks against the boards down low; 1 point. Again, way too small if a sample but last night was a good sign.

Husso……not sure what the answer is. I was hoping he’d at least play solidly. But I just don’t feel it with him… He played ok in the 1st the other night, the then was chasing the puck v anticipating. Lyon will be an interesting watch. Talbot played well last night, stood on his head several times taking more shots than come out of vaccine mandates. He was a rock. Want to see a larger body of work. Taking his 2 games, he’s got somewhere around a 97% save rate(2 GA on 54 SOG, may be off so someone help me out here…).

Good game. This shows there’s potential. Too early to look for SCPO tickets, but there’s an excitement in watching these games…. NYR is gonna be a tough game, they’re stacked with talent. The Rempire State Building & Trouba bring a ton of heat….wonder if they bring Watson up so he can lose some more teeth? Someone here said it the other day; do we really need hime if we have bugger dudes who just don’t play as physical of a game as they could? Good point.

Well played, lads.

Johansson played a good game for his 1st. I’m excited to see how he develops. Great call on his passing; was on full display last night.

I’m wondering, do we call up Kasper….or does Watson get the call because we’re playing the Rangers? I’d rather see Kasper, and our big guys get more physical…free up space for the forwards to roam and create….

I don’t mind the callup but someone would have to either hit LTIR or waivers. Would probably be easiest to backdate LTIR for Petry if it looks like day to day could hit week to week. I’d rather get a forward than go 7 and 11. We’ll see how they play it.

After that performance, I think it is Talbot's net till he crashes. Wings do not have a Ullmark/Swayman situation, they need to g with the hot hand!
"If Talbot continues to play well enough to keep Lyon fresh...and fresh Lyon plays as well as fresh Lyon did last yr...we could be solid defensively." I think this comment sez it best!

Not true; Holl could be reassigned to GR without having to clear again since it's been less than 30 days. (Also, technically, Edvinsson is still exempt from waivers too, though that's obviously not going to happen.)

Petry could not be LTIRed unless there is a "bona-fide" long-term injury expected to keep him out at least a 24+ days/10+ games. If he's truly day-to-day or even week-to-week, there's no chance LTIR would be approved this soon into his injury period.

After what we’ve seen from Holl vs. Gustafsson, is he the Dman you really want to send back down? As for Petry, I said if “day to day turns into week to week”. They can make that call all day long. Gus was awful on D first game out. Petry is still at the very least day to day as we wait for an update. They’re going to need the defense to be better than what Gustafsson can offer in that waiver (and even then still not great). I want Kasper to get up here, no doubt. I’d like to see him on the power play. Not to sound conspiratorial, but with backdating on Petry he would essentially have to miss about 20 days/9 games. It would feel like a mistake to send Holl down. Send Husso down? I’d be fine with that. As far as “bonafide”, the league lets teams do whatever they want more often than not on injury. Lehner’s career is over. Didn’t report to confirm, league lets Vegas take him off the books and he still gets paid. Lupul called out Toronto on a false report of his injury as he was in Colorado skiing at the time they said he was examined. No part of me believes Detroit would have trouble designating Petry to LTIR. Every team plays that game.

I watched the game on my phone while at the MSU-BC game. It seemed most people were around us. Lalonde’s history is if Husso is healthy, he’s the starter, no matter how well Lyon or Talbot play. I don’t understand why, but that’s how it is.

It feels like it. I didn’t hear that he was hurt yesterday and he wasn’t even backup. That doesn’t mean they won’t boomerang.

Coach LaLonde confirms possible callup saying, “might involve waivers, probably call up a more veteran guy”.

https://youtu.be/5RU1Nk-4hVY?si=hMhM6o2STGOh61gn

Both Fischer and Petry are listed as unavailable, the scenario of 11/7 was presented but specifically saying a veteran would be the likely call-up if they go that route likely indicates Watson.
