Bill, do you have a feel for if the Flyers plan to use the cap relief from RyJo to add to the current roster? This is assuming the Flyers do not lose the challenge from RyJo.

My sense is they will bank the cap space if they can get it and potentially add prospect/2026 asset if they can. I don't see a big addition with what the Flyers went into last season's trade with Colorado figuring would be dead cap to begin with. Now there's a "weaponize space" often again potentially if they win the RyJo grievance.

I hope that is the course of action for the Flyers. Thanks for the feedback.
Whay does everyone think about the Pitt-Win trade? Win was able to get equal value for a disgruntled prospect. Why couldn't we?

He got equal value and everyone knew the kid was disgruntled. For the Flyers, I was told that wasn’t possible and that’s why it was kept under wraps in the Guathier situation.

How do you know the Flyers didn't get equal value? Cutter was a 5th overall pick and Drysdale was a 6th overall pick. The problem obviously is the fact that Drysdale can't stay on the ice. This deal isn't done either way yet. Perhaps Cutter isn't as advertised, and Drysdale gets over his injury woes and succeeds. I mean, he is only 22 which is quite young for a defenseman. He has to stay healthy or it's quite obvious that this deal is gonna end badly for the Flyguys.

The Flyers also got a 2nd rnd pick. As is always the case in trades and draft picks….it’s a wait and see. I think the point being made is that the Jets traded a guy that EVERYONE knew was getting traded and look to have done just as well as Flyers.

Ok, okay. I didn't get that part of it and I forgot about the second round pick. On another note, Boomer and Hahn also said that they liked the TK signing, and that he was the face of the franchise! Ha ha, props to JD250 who takes a lot of crap on here!

If they aren’t doing a rebuild…like an actual rebuild…then the TK signing makes sense. I like some of JD’s takes actually. Some not so much. If Drysdale ever hits the way he was projected in his draft year.um..hmm. Then that trade will come out in the Flyers favour.

proves that premise was false. I myself think Rutger is the better prospect. Either way the value is there give or take.
Also he is signed so that is also a plus for Winnipeg, so I bet that was a factor.

even when JD has been healthy, he hasn't been all that impressive. He has a long way to go to cement himself as a legit top 4 dman.

Yeah when you compare the deals on paper they are almost identical. '23 14th for '22 14th compared to a '22 5th for a '20 6th (plus a 2nd round pick).

If there was a Stanley Cup for gaslighting your own fanbase the Flyers would be a perpetual dynasty.

If the team that watched him practice/play for 3+ years had to throw in a 2nd round pick it means that neither side was buying that. Even head cheerleader Torts, much like with TDA, eventually came around to the fact that Drysdale just hasn't been that good on defense so far.
Hey the kid still has promise, he could get healthy and could turn things around.
It's not like he doesn't have positive attributes. Stranger things have happened but going into his 5th year playing in the NHL the best thing he has going for him to recommend him as a top pair player is still his draft position.

Bill, the additions to the media room are nice, but did they add any microphones to the overhead so people watching press conferences can actually hear the questions the reporters are asking? If you've ever tried to watch one of those pressers on YouTube, you know that most of the questions you guys are asking aren't audible to the viewers. It's frustrating. Particularly the post game pressers, though I know those are at the WFC and not the FTC.
Also, BTW, you will one day be a large component of the Flyers media room walls. You deserve it.

Charlie O mentioned that covid screwed up his development and he was probably brought up too early

First of all, thank you!!! Secondly, I don't think microphones will be added to pressers except for ones that are league-run events (such as the Stadium Series).
